If you love taking selfies, the next thing you want to do is to go live on the Social Media with the ASUS ZenFone Live. Zenfone Live is the World’s first smartphone with hardware-optimised, real-time beautification technology. The ZenFone live will treat your selfie videos as if you are taking selfies with beautification turned on. The same thing happens with the live videos, the BeautyLive app will blend with the Social Media apps to show your glamorous version in the videos. This feature comes handy when you live stream on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and other social media apps.
In terms of the design and display, the Asus ZenFone Live features a 5-inch HD display with 2.5D curved glass on the front. By looking at the design, the ZenFone Live does nothing great, it still follows the trials of its old generation ZenFones. The fact that smartphones are emerging with a metal body, ZenFone Live is still stuck with plastic materials yet the quality of the phone’s build is really good and we do fancy its light weight (120 grams) and compact form factor. It gives you a good grip and does feel great.
The major highlight of the phone is the camera, it sports a 5 MP f/2.2 wide-angle selfie camera with 2x light sensitivity with 1.4um pixels and Soft-light LED flash for natural skin tones. On the rear side, there’s a 13 MP f/2.0 camera using the Pixel Master technology and with a soft-light LED flash. Both the cameras support the real-time beautification feature. The phone also features a built-in dual MEMS microphones that remove background noise which is useful when you are live streaming.
Specifications include a 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 CPU which seems to be dated. Nobody is going to opt an old CPU in this generation, the processor doesn’t even support 64-bit architecture i.e. ARMv8. The ZenFone Live runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but on a 32-bit Cortex-A7 processor which is limited to the ARMv7 instructions. The device further comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB or 32 GB onboard storage with a mediocre 2,650 mAh non-removable battery.
The top houses a 3.5 mm port for earphones, the bottom comes with a micro USB and loudspeakers. For the microphones, ASUS has done a great job adding dual MEMS microphones removing any background noise as said earlier.
The right side holds a power key and volume control, the left side has a hybrid SIM tray that can be used for dual SIM or single SIM + MicroSD. The handset supports 4G network with VoLTE calling.
The phone is available at ₹9,999, but the pricing seems not convincing when we compare the phone with the existing Chinese rivals. The performance may not meet the current app demands, chances are, the overall experience of the phone might let you down.
