Back in December last year, Taiwan-based ASUS rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo update for ZenFone 4. And then in late January this year, the company rolled out the Oreo update for ZenFone 3 as well. Well now, ASUS is rolling out the Oreo update for yet another smartphone – the ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro (ZS551KL).
The ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro was launched last year in August, and, it ran Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box which was layered with ASUS’ ZenUI 4.0 skin atop. Having said that, the Android 8.0 Oreo update that’s rolling out to ZenFone 4 Pro carries version number 15.0410.1802.34. And, while the size of the update is currently unknown, it’s safe to assume it will weigh more than 1 GB in size as this is an Android version update.
Also, this being an Oreo update, it brings along Oreo-specific features like Picture-in-Picture Mode, Smart Text Selection, Autofill Framework, and more to the ZenFone 4 Pro. However, ASUS has also included some of its own features like long screenshot, “more friendly” Setting UI design, and, improvements to launcher among others.
Here’s the changelog of Android 8.0 Oreo update for ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro:
- Upgrade to Android O
- Power consumption improvement
- Adds “Long screenshot” function
- Substitute Cast function for PlayTo function
- After OS upgrade, launcher has some important changes – swipe up to all apps, all app icon could be changed
- More friendly setting UI design
This Android 8.0 Oreo update for ASUS ZenFone 4 Pro is rolling out over-the-air, hence, it will take at least a week to reach all the units. However, if you don’t get an update notification even after a week, you can check for the update manually by going to Setting > About > System Update menu.
