With so many patent cases pending around the world between different companies, Apple has now been able to win a patent related to its Multi-touch interface for the iPhone.
The patent is awarded by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to Apple. This is just one of the 200+ patents Apple had filed back in 2007 after the introduction of the iPhone.
The multi-touch patent can be easily explained as “sensing a plurality of events occurring simultaneously or nearly simultaneously on an event-sensing panel”. Now with this patent going to Apple, we can see the Cupertino based company suing Google, Microsoft, Motorola and Samsung for using the multi-touch interface in their devices. But it is to be noted that all the other companies also hold important patents that can be found inside Apple’s iPhone.
So the next few weeks will again be interesting to see how the companies react to this patent win by Apple and will we see a +1 in the already pending legal cases.
