Reports about the fingerprint scanner on the upcoming iPhone 5S has been making news for quite some time. Now an analyst has confirmed the presence of the scanner on the upcoming device.
According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who is said to be well-connected to Apple, claims that the Apple iPhone 5S would feature a fingerprint scanner that would be connected to the phone’s home button. Apparently Apple has made the button convex instead of the usual concave shape to add the fingerprint scanner in the home button, which would be made out of sapphire glass, which is scratch resistant.
The fingerprint scanner on the Apple iPhone 5S may be powered by AuthenTec, the biometrics company that Apple bought. The system could be used for verification of credentials for mobile payments or for downloading and uploading files and content that has been placed in cloud based storage. The iPhone 5S was earlier reported to be launched on September 10.
