While Apple had almost revealed the Apple iPad Air 2 in the leaked iTunes user guide, the company has now officially announced the device.
Apple has announced the launch of the iPad Air 2, which is the company’s second generation device of its new iPad Air line-up that was introduced last year. The device has a 9.7 inch fully laminated Retina display with antireflective coating and resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. The tablet measures just 6.1 mm thin, making it the thinnest tablet in the world.
The Apple iPad Air 2 is powered by the new Apple A8X, which is the company’s latest chip based on 2nd generation 64 bit architecture and packed with nearly 3 billion transistors making it nearly 12 times faster than the previous iPad. The device also has a M8 motion co-processor like the one seen in the iPhone 6.
The Apple iPad Air 2 has an 8 MP rear facing iSight camera with f/2.4 aperture. The camera can take panorama shots up to 43 MP. There is also a front facing 1.2 MP HD camera with f/2.2 aperture.
