Along with launching the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, Apple has apparently decided to discontinue the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5s in India.
Apple India has removed the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 Plus and the iPhone 5s from the official website, indicating that they have been discontinued. The move is said to be made to prevent customers from purchasing the older models given the price cut post the launch of the new one. However, the handsets are expected to continue selling through third-party retailers till stocks last.
While the discontinuation of the iPhone 5s was very much expected after the launch of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, it is surprising that Apple decided to do away with the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus as well. Also it must be noted that the iPhone 5s was one of the most-sold iPhone devices in India.
After the discontinuation of the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5s, Apple would offer just three iPhone series – the new iPhone 7 series, the iPhone 6s series and the iPhone SE. Moreover, the iPhone 6s handsets will now be available in only 32 GB and 128 GB variants. We are eagerly waiting to see the fate of the iPhone 7 sales in India.
