After a long wait, Google finally released Android Wear 2.0 in February this year. While the Wear 2.0 is currently only available on LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, there are more than 15 smartwatches which are going to be updated to Android Wear 2.0, and, out of those, three smartwatches will start receiving the Wear 2.0 update from today. Those three smartwatches are Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch and Tag Heuer Connected.
It’s been more than a month and a half since Google released Android Wear 2.0 and the smartwatches that are supposed to receive the Wear 2.0 update are still on the first iteration of Android Wear. Well, a Google employee has revealed that Fossil Q Founder, Casio Smart Outdoor Watch and Tag Heuer Connected are the smartwatches that will receive the Android Wear 2.0 update first via OTA. The OTA will start rolling out to these smartwatches from today and the roll out is expected to complete by April 4.
As of now, there’s no information on when other eligible smartwatches will receive the Android Wear 2.0 update. Earlier this month, Fossil had said that its smartwatches would receive the Wear 2.0 update by mid-March, however, we are already past that timeline and have reached the end of month. Besides, Huawei too had confirmed that Huawei Watch would receive this update by the end of this month. Well, we are just two days away from April so we hope that Huawei will stand by its timeline and roll out the update in the next two days.
Android Wear 2.0 comes with features like On-Watch Play Store and Google Assistant. You can read more about Android Wear 2.0 here. Also, you can check out this list of smartwatches that will receive Android Wear 2.0 update and see whether your smartwatch is going to get the Wear 2.0 update.
