Google released Android 7.0 Nougat for Nexus and Android One devices on 22nd of August. The devices eligible for the update are Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One). However, owners of Nexus 6P, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE had to wait to get their hands on the latest update.
The factory image and OTA files for Nexus 6P were availed by Google earlier last month and Nexus 6 started receiving the Nougat update recently. Now, factory images and OTA files for HTC built Nexus 9 LTE are available as well.
It has been quite a long wait for the Nexus 9 LTE owners. The reason for the delay should undoubtedly be fixing bugs and issues that might have popped up. The Android 7.0 Nougat update changes the build number to NRD90R and carries September 6 Android security patch.
Now that the Factory Image and OTA Files are available, Google should start rolling out the update over the air very soon, however, keep in mind that this again might take a couple of weeks to reach your device. Hence, if you can’t wait, you can download the files to update your Nexus 9 LTE.
