China-based smartphone brand Coolpad announced its partnership with chip-maker Qualcomm at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event to launch smart wearable gadgets that will be powered by Snapdragon Wear 1100 and Wear 2100 platform. Well, apart from making this announcement, Coolpad at its MWC event has also announced that some of its smartphones in India will soon be getting Amazon Alexa.
Amazon Alexa is a digital assistant which rivals the likes of Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri. And, with the arrival of Amazon Alexa on Coolpad smartphones in India, the smartphone brand will become the first Amazon Exclusive brand in the country to introduce Alexa on its smartphones.
With Amazon Alexa, users of Coolpad smartphones will be able to perform different tasks such as playing music, shopping on Amazon.in, or, catching up with the latest news through voice commands.
Coolpad smartphones in India will receive Amazon Alexa through an OTA update, and, the smartphones that will get Alexa are Coolpad Cool Play 6, Coolpad Note 5, and, the Coolpad Note 5 Lite. However, Coolpad has also said that all the upcoming devices in India will come pre-installed with Amazon Alexa.
Commenting on this announcement, Mr. Syed Tajuddin, CEO, Coolpad India, said, “We are working to immerse more AI and tech into smartphones to make the experience more Intelligent, friendly and beneficial for the customers.
