It has been known for quite some time that Amazon has been working on its own smartphone. New reports now suggest that the phone could go official by the end of the first half of this year.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon is all set to launch its own smartphone in June. The company is also believed to have shown prototypes of the smartphone which is said to have 3D display capabilities. The smartphone is also expected to feature as many as six cameras (two standard cameras and four cameras to track the user’s gestures and movements) for the retina tracking technology.
Reports have inconclusively suggested that the Amazon smartphone will have a display panel which will be capable of displaying 3D-like images without requiring 3D viewing glasses. The 3D images displayed are said to be similar to a hologram. Also like other Amazon devices, the smartphone would obviously run on a forked version of Android.
