From past many months TATA DOCOMO is trying to give Airtel tough time but it seems that Airtel has now responded. Airtel has come up with TIMED SMS features (It will allow to schedule your SMS at future date and time). This service is somewhat similar to what TATA DOCOMO is offering. (Remember Sanjay Bafna’s Guide – TATA DOCOMO Timed SMS)Airtel is offering this service at a much lower rate than what TATA DOCOMO is offering. Airtel charges Re. 1/SMS while TATA DOCOMO charges Rs. 3/SMS.
To send SMS at future date and time, you need to follow the following format i.e. Recipient’s mobile number <98XXXXXXXX> Date <DDMM> Time <HHMM> <YOUR Message> to 52233. E.g.9810098100 0801 0000 Happy Birthday.
In case you send a wrong format in terms of date/ time/ or number, then you will get a correction SMS with an example for the same. You will get a confirmation SMS when you schedule your message, as well as when the message is sent.
Some other Features of Airtel Timer SMS
- You will also be given an option to pull back the Scheduled Timer SMS, in case you change your mind, you will have to reply with STOP to the sender id. Charges of Re.1/SMS would be applicable. The cancellation method would be educated to you automatically after he has scheduled the message.
- You can schedule an SMS 365 days in advance, using this application.
- In case you schedule the message at a time, which is older than the existing time, an education SMS would be send to you, which would also tell you the current time.
