Just days after the telecom tribunal quashed the DoT order banning the 3G roaming services, Airtel is all set to resume services in the affected circles from today.
According to a press statement issued by Bharti Airtel, 3G roaming services will resume from today in eight circles including Haryana, Maharashtra and Goa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kolkata and UP. While the prepaid customers can start right away by selecting on of the roaming data plans, post-paid subscribers will have to wait slightly longer.
There was a huge commotion when the Department of Telecom ordered Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular to stop the 3G intra-circle roaming agreement under which they had also agreed to acquire customers in area where they did not win spectrum. However, when the companies appealed to the TDSAT tribunal in Delhi, the bench found the agreement adhering to licence agreement.
