After launching its 5G services at the Pune Lohegaon Airport, Airtel has expanded its 5G Plus services at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi. The Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport is the first airport in the state to receive Airtel 5G services.
Varanasi is among the first eight cities in India to receive Airtel 5G Plus service. Last month, Airtel rolled out its 5G services in eight cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Siliguri, and Varanasi, and adding two more – Panipat and Gurugram making it a total of ten cities. Airtel has already launched its 5G services at Terminal 2 of Bengaluru Airport and Pune Lohegaon Airport locations, and now Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport.
The Airtel 5G Plus service will allow passengers to enjoy the 5G services on their smartphones while at the arrival and departure terminals, boarding gates, migration and immigration counters, lounges, security areas, baggage claim belts, parking areas, etc.
The Airtel 5G services are currently available at Benaras Hindu University (BHU), Ghatt Road, Beniya Bagh Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Adampur, Rajghat, Sigra, Sarnath, Thateri Bazaar, and a few other locations. Airtel is extending its network further to make its services available across the city in due course of time, the company says.
Airtel has already confirmed that it will cover its 5G services in all key metros by the end of this year 2022. Plus, all of urban India in 2023 and then across the country by March 2024. Since the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled, no SIM change is required to enjoy 5G services.
