While Airtel was one of the first service providers to bring 4G LTE to India, the company is now expanding the services to every region, the latest being Mumbai.
Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of its 4G LTE services in the Mumbai circle. The services, which are currently being rolled out on trial basis, are being implemented through the partnership with Nokia Networks to deploy TD-LTE on 2300 MHz band. Customers interested in upgrading to 4G services can visit the nearest Airtel retail touch points across Mumbai to obtain a 4G SIM.
Currently Airtel is offering a complimentary upgrade to Airtel 4G at same price as 3G for their existing customers. The company will be continuously gathering customer feedback around the quality of its 4G services and assimilate these market insights into Airtel’s wider agenda of building a world-class 4G network infrastructure for cities.
Speaking about the launch, Ashok Ganapathy, Hub CEO – Mumbai, Maharashtra, Goa & Gujarat at Bharti Airtel, said, “As an increasing number of Indians show a preference for consuming data and content over their mobile devices, we at Airtel are excited to bring the power of 4G to our customers in Mumbai. While launching Platinum 3G we significantly augmented our network and now have made further investments in building a robust 4G network here.”
