Keeping with its digital initiatives, Airtel has now planned to deploy the e-KYC solution in 500000 retail outlets across India.
Bharti Airtel has announced that it has already rolled out over 20000 units of Aadhaar-based e-KYC solution across India. The company further plans on offering a similar solution in over 500000 retail outlets with a focus on rural outlets. With the rollout, Airtel expects the number of customers getting digitally on-boarded to grow multifold.
According to Airtel, currently on a daily basis, over 50000 subscribers, including those in rural India, are activating their Airtel mobile SIMs using Aadhaar-based digital verification or Aadhaar e-KYC. To instantly get the verification completed, customers purchasing a new prepaid or postpaid mobile connection are required to submit their biometrics (iris scan/fingerprints) at the Point of Sale for verification.
Speaking about the initiative, Ajai Puri, Director – Operations (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel, said, “We plan to deploy this solution in majority of our general trade stores, including those in rural pockets. The initiative has received positive response from customers as it enables instant activation of Airtel mobile SIMs. The digital verification, which is fully secure, also eliminates paperwork and benefits the environment.”
