The Mobile World Congress expo in Barcelona is a mere hours away and Acer has gone ahead and made a few devices official. Acer had been teasing the launch of a few smartphones at MWC and they have already made the announcements. Acer has announced the Liquid Jade Z and a couple of smartphones under the Liquid Z series. The Acer Liquid Z220 and Z520 are both entry level Android smartphones that won’t break the bank.
The Acer Liquid Z220 is the more affordable of the two. It packs in a 4-inch WVGA (800x480p) display and it’s powered by a 1.2 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 wit 1 GB RAM. Other specs include 8 GB of internal storage with microSD expansion, 5 MP rear camera with flash, 2 MP front-facing camera and a 1300 mAh battery. It’s the first budget smartphone from the company running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Connectivity features include Dual SIM, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
The Acer Liquid Z520 is the better specced of the two. It comes with a bigger 5-inch display of FWVGA resolution (854x480p) and it’s powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor with 1 GB RAM. The device will come with 8 GB internal storage with microSD expansion. There’s an 8 MP camera on the rear with flash along with a 2 MP front-facing camera. Sadly, the device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2000 mAh battery powers the device. The connectivity is well covered with Dual SIM, 3G, WiFi, Blueetooth and GPS.
Both the new devices will come in the usual Black and White color options. The Acer Liquid Z220 is priced at 89 Euros (~Rs. 6,140) and the Acer Liquid Z520 at 119 Euros (~Rs. 8,210). The Z220 will hit the European market later this month and the Z520 will hit the market in April.
