While WhatsApp has brought back the old text status to the app on Android, it has been renamed and is no longer called Status. Rather, the old text status is now called About. Yes, we know it sounds weird, but the good thing is that WhatsApp listened to the user feedback and brought back the text status to the app without much delay. How to set text status on WhatsApp
Step 1: Make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp. You can update WhatsApp from Google Play Store to the latest version.
Step 2: Now open WhatsApp and tap on three-dot menu button located at the top-right corner of the app screen. After that, tap on Settings.
Step 3: Now tap on your name to open your WhatsApp profile. In your WhatsApp Profile, you will see a new section called “About and phone number“. Well, that About is actually the text status on WhatsApp.
Tap on this About sub-menu above your phone number to set text status on WhatsApp. Once you tap on it, you will be taken to the About menu from where you can set text status on WhatsApp.
To set text status on WhatsApp, just tap on that Pencil icon, type in whatever you want as your WhatsApp status and then tap on OK. That’s it. That’s how you can set text status on WhatsApp now. Apart from setting your custom text status, you can also choose from the ones listed by WhatsApp like Available, Busy and more.
Speaking of the visibility of your text status which is now called About, you can change it to Everyone, My contacts or Nobody by going to the Settings > Account > Privacy > About menu.
