Yesterday, we heard about a $99 Nexus tablet from Google and ASUS which turned out to be a 7-inch ASUS ME172V tablet expected to arrive between $129-$149 from ASUS alone.
The design of the 7-inch tablet bears a close resemblance to the Barnes & Noble’s NOOK tablet and it recently went through FCC which revealed more details on the device.
The Iconia B1 will arrive with a 7-inch screen with display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core MediaTek SoC coupled with 512 MB RAM and PowerVR SGX 531 GPU.
The on-board storage is pegged at 8 GB with an option to expand it using a microSD card. The connectivity options include USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and a SIM card slot could allow 3G connectivity to users too. The Iconia B1 is expected to arrive with Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean out-of-the-box.
Currently there is no information on as to when Acer will make the tablet official and will it be for $99 but we are just a couple of weeks away from the CES 2013 where we could hear from the company officially.
