We recently showed you how to automatically play music as soon as you plug in earphones in to your smartphone. You simply plug in your earphones and your favorite music app starts playing music. That’s cool, I know. But, imagine you are enjoying music to the fullest and suddenly some notification stops the playing music. Very annoying.
Well, no need to get annoyed anymore. We show you how to automatically prevents notifications from pausing music so that you can enjoying listening to your music uninterruptedly. Read on.
How to automatically prevent notifications from pausing music
Step 1: Download the ‘Tasker‘ app from Google Play Store and go to Settings > Accessibility > Tasker to enable the Tasker app. This is required in order for Tasker to function properly.
Step 2: Now open the Tasker app and tap on the ‘+‘ button provided at the bottom in the ‘Profiles‘ tab. After that, select ‘Application‘.
After doing so, you will be presented with all the apps installed on your Android smartphone. Select the ones which you use for listening to music or watching video. I selected the ‘Play Music‘ and ‘YouTube‘, but you select the ones used by you.
Step 3: Press the back button of your device once after you are done with app selection. This will take you to the main menu of Tasker. There, you will be asked to add ‘New Task‘ to the profile. Give a name to the task and add it. I gave the name ‘Turn Off Notifications‘ but you are free to give the one you like.
Step 4: You will then be taken to the ‘Task Edit’ menu after adding a new task. Tap on the ‘+‘ button provided at the bottom of the menu and then select ‘Audio‘ from Action category and ‘Interrupt Mode‘ from Audio Action category.
You will be taken to the ‘Action Edit’ menu of ‘Interrupt Mode’. Make sure the ‘Mode‘ is set to ‘None‘ and press the back button on your device. As soon as you press the back button, you will be asked for notification access for Tasker. Enable Notification Access for Tasker and press the back button twice.
Pressing the back button twice will take you to the main menu of Tasker.
Step 5: Now, long press on the ‘Turn Off Notifications’ task and then tap on ‘Add Exit Task‘.
After that, tap on ‘New Task’ and provide a name to it. I gave the name ‘Turn On Notifications‘.
Step 6: You will then be taken to the ‘Task Edit’ menu where you need to tap on the ‘+‘ button located at the bottom of the screen. After that, select ‘Audio‘ from Action Category and ‘Interrupt Mode‘ from Audio Action.
You will again be taken to the ‘Action Edit’ menu. This time you need to set the ‘Mode‘ to ‘All‘. Tap on the drop-down list to find the option.
Press the back button of your device twice after you have set the ‘Mode’ to ‘All’. This will take you to the main menu of Tasker.
Here, ‘Play Music or YouTube‘ is our Tasker profile, whereas ‘Turn Off Notifications‘ and ‘Turn On Notifications‘ are the Entry and Exit Tasks respectively.
Now as soon as you launch your music app, the ‘No Interruptions’ icon will appear in the status bar. Now the notifications won’t pause the music. That ‘No Interruptions’ icon will disappear from the status bar as soon as you close the music app.
Hopefully, you will be able to enjoy listening to music without any interruptions after going through this tutorial. We have more such tutorials in our How-To Guides section. Do take a look.
