While the BlackBerry Passport never really clicked with the mainstream smartphone users owing to its overtly unique design and shape, the company has launched yet another variant of the same handset.

BlackBerry has announced the launch of the BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition, which boasts to be the darling of CEOs and high profile executives all around. While the handset has the same boxed shaped design with a wide portrait screen with a three row QWERTY keyboard, the device is completely made of stainless steel with a steel frame and a soft touch diamond back cover.

The BlackBerry Passport has a 4.5 inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and super high resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels which results in a 453 ppi density. Despite being a high-end smartphone, the device is powered by the almost outdated Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz but with a massive 3 GB of RAM.

The BlackBerry Passport has a 13 MP rear facing camera with 6DOF OIS, BSI sensor and a 5-element f/2.0 lens. There is also a front facing 2 MP fixed focus camera. The device runs on the latest BlackBerry OS version 10.3 with a massive 3450 mAh battery. The handset is priced at $549 and comes bundled with a $130 accessory pack.

BlackBerry Passport specs:

  • 4.5 inch display
  • 1440 x 1440 pixels resolution
  • 2.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor
  • Adreno 330 GPU
  • 3 GB RAM
  • 32 GB internal memory
