Qualcomm recently announced its latest flagship smartphone chipset named Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and now the company has launched yet another SoCm dubbed Qualcomm Snapdragon 782G, which comes as an iterative upgrade to the Snapdragon 778G+.
The chipset is manufactured using a 6nm process and comes with an octa-core Kryo 670 processor along with an Adreno 642L graphics processor. It packs one Kryo 670 Prime core (Cortex-A78) at 2.7GHz, 3 Kryo 670 Gold (Cortex-A78) at up to 2.2GHz, and 4 Kryo 670 Silver (Cortex-A55) at up to 1.9GHz.
The company says that the CPU is around 5 percent faster while the GPU is 10 percent faster when compared to the Snapdragon 778G+. There are several things on this new chip that we already saw on the 782G, including Qualcomm Spectra ISP with triple 14-bit ISP support with the ability to process up to 2 gigapixels per second and up to 200MP resolution support.
It comes with a Snapdragon X53 modem with sub-6GHz and mmWave support, while FastConnect 6700 offers support for Wi-Fi 6 up to 2.9Gbps, and it also has support for Bluetooth 5.2. It also brings Quick Charge 4+ support which the company promises can charge up to 50 percent in just 15 minutes.
As of now, Qualcomm has not confirmed which devices will come powered by the Snapdragon 782G processor but based on the reports, the upcoming Honor 80 is most likely to be the first smartphone to be powered by this new processor.
