‘Phablets’ are the in-thing this year and no mobile phone manufacturer will want to be left behind in this race and LG is one of them. So the company launched the LG Optimus G Pro in the Indian subcontinent last month and we got the device to review it for our readers.

And today we bring you some hands-on images of the 5.5 inch phablet which the company aims as a direct competitor to Samsung Galaxy Note II which also arrives with a 5.5 inch display.

The LG Optimus G Pro’s display is huge, measuring 5.5 inch diagonally and carries a True Full HD IPS Plus LCD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels which is crisp and clear and produces brilliant colours. LG has kept the bezel on the G Pro surprisingly thin and this makes you feel that the device has an edge-to-edge display and plus made it easy for the company to pack a larger display without compromising on the device’s size.

Above the screen we can find earpiece and next to it are the proximity sensor, ambient light sensor and the 2.1 MP front camera.

On the bottom of the screen we can find the hardware home button which has a notification light around it and two capacitive buttons on either side which are the traditional back and menu buttons.

On the right of the G Pro we can find the power/lock button whereas on the left side we have the volume rockers and the Quick Button which can be used to launch any predefined app and acts as a shortcut button.

A thin aluminium lining runs around the smartphone which gives a nice look to the device and feel royal.

On the top of the device we can find the 3.5mm audio jack and the IR blaster which can used as a remote to control an array of devices.

On the bottom we have the microUSB slot and the microphone.

The back panel of the Optmius G Pro is made up of plastic which is thin and flexible but will never feel cheap and has the NFC antenna intergrated. LG has incorporated an interesting square sparkle like finishing to the panel which looks great under light. We can also find the LG logo engraved into the panel. Apart from it, we have a 13 MP camera which is coupled with LED Flash and the speakers next to it which takes some nice shots. Under the back panel houses a powerful 3140 mAh battery which powers the LG Optimus G Pro while we can also find the microSD card slot and the microSIM slot.

Stay tuned for the detailed review of the LG Optimus G Pro and to know what we feel about the phablet.
