Samsung today launched the much awaited Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone at an event in New Delhi. Powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the SGS II incorporates a 4.27 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor with 1GB RAM & an 8MP camera with 1080p full HD video recording and playback.
The Indian version of SGS II has 16GB of onboard storage with an expansion slot which supports upto 32GB of additional memory cards. We are pleasantly surprised to note that it also incorporates Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to support emerging mobile payment service and other services with mobile operators.
The SGS II is priced at a MRP of Rs.32890/- in the Indian market with online pre-bookings commencing from tomorrow. We expect the street price to be cheaper than this as is always the case. Consumers can pre-book the SGS II online for Rs 1000/-. The phone will be available exclusively from Vodafone from June 3rd and from the retail channel from 9th June on a pan India basis. All consumers buying the SGS II will get 1GB of 3G data download free per month for a period of 6 months from Vodafone.
