Easing the troubles for blind people, India would see the world’s first smartphone for the blind, which would be designed in a way to make operating it easy for the blind people.

The smartphone, created by Sumit Dagar, uses the Braille language to interact with the users. The device has an innovative ‘touch screen’ which is capable of elevating and depressing the contents it receives to transform them into ‘touchable’ patterns.

The smartphone uses Shape Memory Alloy technology, based on the concept that metals remember their original shapes. The ‘touch screen’ consists of a grid of pins which can move up and down as per requirement. The pins represent a character or letter. This grid will use the elevations and depression of pins to form patterns in Braille, thus allowing blind people to carry out activities like sending text messages etc.
