Samsung started rolling out the much awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for Galaxy S8 and S8+ earlier this month. However, that update was pulled out just a week later due to reports of unexpected reboots coming in from the users. Well, Samsung resumed the roll-out of this update for both the smartphones two days ago, but, it was only being rolled out in Germany and that too for those users who had participated in the beta program. But now, the Oreo update for both these smartphones has begun rolling out in India as well.
Samsung has started rolling out the Oreo update for Galaxy S8 (and S8+) in India. And, this update is now being rolled out to non-beta users as well who did not participate in Samsung’s beta program. Those who had already received the Oreo update that Samsung pulled off will get the new update that weighs around 530 MB in size, but, those who are yet to upgrade their S8/S8+ with Oreo will receive the update that is around 1.4 GB in size.
While the updates for Galaxy S8 and S8+ that were pulled out by Samsung carried build number G950FXXU1CRAP and G955FXXU1CRAP respectively, the ones that are being rolled out now carry build number G950FXXU1CRB7 for S8 and G955FXXU1CRB7 for S8+.
Moreover, Samsung has also started rolling out the Oreo update for S8/S8+ in other countries as well. The updates are rolled out over-the-air, hence, should take a couple of days to reach all the units. However, if you can’t wait any longer to upgrade your S8/S8+ to Oreo, you can check for the update manually by heading over to the Settings > Software update menu.
