While it is confirmed that Google is focusing towards the 8 inch tablet segment with recent reports suggesting an 8.9 inch Nexus tablet, Samsung seems to be considering the same segment.
According to sources, an unknown Samsung tablet bearing model number SM-T700 was spotted at the graphic benchmarks. Interestingly, the tablet had a display measuring 8.4 inches with very high resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. This implies that the device would have pixel density of 359 ppi, which is higher than the retina display of the Apple iPad mini.
If this isn’t enough to hint that this is a high end tablet, the specs confirm it. The device is said to run on a 1.9 GHz octa core Exynos 5 processor with 2 GB of RAM. Also expected on board is 7 MP rear facing camera and a front facing 2 MP camera. To add to it, the tablet would run the latest Android KitKat version. While there is no confirmation, the long rumoured AMOLED display for tablets may be used for this device.
