In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Communications and IT Milind Deora said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had received about 4,133 service related complaints against telecom operators in India for the year 2011-2012.
Topping the list of complaints, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance go on to take the top 3 spots with 1,165, 654 and 647 complaints respectively.
Following these companies, complaints against Tata stood at 438 while there were 326 complaints against Idea Cellular. The state-owned PSUs BSNL and MTNL saw 466 and 156 complaints registered against them respectively.
Deora clarified that the complaints regarding the Basic Telephone service (Fixed Wireline) were based on non-compliance of Quality of Services (QoS) which is calculated on the benchmarks set by the regulator which include fault repair, metering and billing and response time to the consumer for assistance.
Whereas when wireless mobile telephony services are considered the benchmarks include call drops, operator response within 60 seconds and network congestions.
With this we would like to take this opportunity and ask you, which is the current operator you are using and are you satisfied by the QoS provided by it? Or have you also faced problems with your service provider? Let us know in the comments below.
