Xolo, it seems, has become quite ambitious of late. After launching the Hive UI enabled Xolo 8X-1000, Xolo is out yet again, launching what they call a ‘gamer’s phone’. The Xolo Play 8X-1200 comes with some good features and a very heavy price tag of Rs. 19,999.
For starters, it possesses a 5-inch full HD display, an Octa-core MediaTek processor and a 13-megapixel rear cam. The device comes with Android Kitkat and Xolo’s new Hive UI on board. Along with this, it comes with 2 GB RAM and a 2300 mAh battery. The specs might sound good, but would you seriously consider the Rs. 19,999 price tag? In my opinion, this one sounds like it is bordering on the same idea as the Xolo 8X-1000 with a an upgrade in terms of specs. Nothing, is mentioned that would actually entice a gamer, particularly, to this phone.
Also, something that I am surprised by is that Xolo is trying to prove a point by going with an Octa-core MediaTek processor rather than going for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, if not Snapdragon 800, which Xiaomi has done. Times have changed and so should the pricing.
Wouldn’t you like to go for a Xiaomi Mi 3 and if not that, maybe the Gionee Elife S5.5 that offers an octa-core processor at around the same price?
In case you are a ‘gamer’ as Xolo calls it, would you think about going for this phone?
