Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd. (TTML) unveiled its vision for Digital Mumbai, offering broadband services over wireline and wireless media anytime, anywhere in Mumbai. The Company, which already has over 2 million wireless subscribers in the city, 400,000 landline customers, and over 100,000 data card users in Mumbai, announced the first wave of products to be launched under the Digital Mumbai framework:1. Photon+ - Express Wireless Broadband Service at speeds upto 3.1 Mbps, 20 times faster than other wireless technology.
2. Cisco Telepresence – Advanced high definition video conferencing, offered in partnership
with Cisco, the world leader in networking solutions.
3. Power Launcher – Ultra high speed Ethernet connectivity, offering data transmission speeds of upto 100 Mbps to retail customers for the first time.
Speaking at a press conference at the Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai, Dr. Mukund Rajan, Managing
Director, TTML said, “Tatas have invested over Rs. 1750 crores in creating world class Digital
Communications Infrastructure in Mumbai over the past decade. Our network has been rated the best in Mumbai in a number of independent surveys, including recent surveys commissioned by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). We are, therefore, delighted to be able to harness the power of this network to help Mumbai, the emerging financial and cultural capital of the world, take its rightful place amongst the most advanced Digital Cities in the world.”
