Vodafone slashes International Roaming Data Services charges

Vodafone postpaid customers can now save upto up to 77% on their data usage while on international roaming by using Vodafone Daily and Monthly Data Usage packs. The Daily Data Usage Packages, priced between Rs 299 to Rs 1299, provide customers up to 10 MB data usage and thereafter, customers can enjoy discounted rates and save upto 27% on subsequent data usage. Additionally, the Monthly Data Usage Packages, priced between Rs 1999 to Rs 3999, provide customers up to 30 MB data usage and thereafter, customers can save upto 30% on subsequent data usage.
These Daily and Monthly Data Usage Packages are available for Vodafone customers using the data services through Vodafone Mobile Connect or iPhone Access Point Names (APN) on Select Partner Networks and Blackberry on All Partner Networks where Vodafone has a Data Roaming tie-up. Customers need to SMS ACT <Package> to 111 inorder to avail the benefits on the Daily and Monthly Data Packs.

- In case Vodafone Postpaid users exceed the free usage limit, then then ones using Daily Packs will be charged at Rs. 3.99/10kb and those using monthly Packs will be charged Rs. 3.5/10kb
- 'Daily' here means a period of 24 hours from the time the customer starts using the Data services through BlackBerry, Vodafone Mobile Connect or iPhone Access Point Names (APN) on select partner networks.
- This service is available to BlackBerry users across all networks where Vodafone has a GPRS tie-up

Vodafone (Kolkata) launches new ISD Bonus card

Vodafone Essar today launched two new ISD Bonus Cards for its prepaid customers in Kolkata. These Bonus cards offer customers reduced tariff options to make outgoing calls to Bangladesh.
Priced at Rs 36, Bonus card 36 allows customers to make outgoing calls to Bangladesh at Rs. 2.99 per minute. Whereas Bonus card 42, priced at Rs. 42 allows customers to make outgoing calls to Bangladesh calls at Rs. 0.06 per second. Both these Bonus cards come with a validity of 30 days from the day of activation.

Vodafone has announced the launch of two new Vodafone Mobile Connect Packs - Vodafone Mobile Connect 499 and Vodafone Mobile Connect 1400 - for its prepaid customers in Kolkata.Vodafone Mobile Connect 499 offers 10 GB data usage for 30 days and is available at Rs. 499. Vodafone Mobile Connect 1400 offers 30 GB of data usage for a period of 90 days and is available at Rs. 1499. Extra usage will be charged at 5p/10KB.
Vodafone Mobile Connect Packs enable you to access internet services on your mobile phone. Additionally, you can also access internet on your laptop/desktop using your mobile phone or Vodafone USB Sticks/Data Cards as a modem to connect.

Vodafone Essar has launched New GPRS Packs for its Prepaid subscribers in Karnataka. These Packs are priced at Rs. 16 and Rs. 95. Rs. 16 GPRS Pack comes with 3 days validity, it provides free data usage upto 200 MB. Rs. 95 GPRS Pack comes with a month's validity, it provides free data usage upto 2GB. After utilisation of free data a charge of 10p/10kb is applicable.To activate GPRS, You need to do an e-top with Rs 95 or Rs 16 or sms ACT GPRS to 144 (toll-free). You can also call 121 (toll-free) from your Vodafone mobile phone for more details.

Vodafone Essar today announced two new Bonus Cards for its customers in Kolkata. These Bonus Cards offer unlimited mobile internet browsing for all Vodafone prepaid customers and are available in two denominations of Rs 21 and Rs 251 respectively. Vodafone Customers can recharge with Rs 21 Bonus Card and avail unlimited mobile internet usage for 2 days whereas the Rs 251 Bonus Card offers 30 days of unlimited mobile internet usage.
With this service customers can enjoy a host of services, including watching free internet video clips, checking email on mobile, accessing social networking sites such as Orkut and Facebook, Internet search and lots more.
Its good news for Vodafone users in Kolkata. But Aircel still offers the cheapest GPRS Pack. I have neither used Vodafone GPRS nor Aircel so can't comment on the speeds. If you have used both then do share your views. Also if you are trying out the new Vodafone GPRS Pack then do share your thoughts about it.

Vodafone Essar rings in 100 million subscribers in India

Vodafone today became the third telecom operator in India to have a subscriber base of over 100 million. Vodafone Essar has announced that it has crossed the landmark of 100 million subscribers in India. With this achievement, Vodafone Essar becomes world’s 5th operator with 100 million customers in a single country. Vodafone has also increased its market share to strengthen its position as India’s second largest operator in terms of revenue.“This is a significant achievement for us and reflects the trust customers have bestowed on the company,” said Marten Pieters, Managing Director and CEO, Vodafone Essar, “In the past three years, we have invested over Rs. 20,000 crores to expand our operations to service customers in India. We will utilize our global and Indian experience to deliver the best products and services to our customers.”
Starting with about 28 million subscribers across 16 circles in May 2007, Vodafone Essar today has 100 million customers and its footprint has extended to all the 23 circles in the country. This journey is a testimony of Vodafone’s success in a highly competitive and price sensitive market. Around 60% of the Company’s customer additions now come from upcountry areas. With a distribution reach of about 1.2 million outlets, Vodafone is well-geared to serve customers in the remotest corners of India.
“In addition to voice and text, Vodafone will also work on investing in platforms that will enable the delivery of internet and data services to a large part of the country. Vodafone will also continue to increase investments in new business areas like enterprise and carriers business,” Mr. Pieters added.
Earlier this 100 million subscribers milestone was achieved by Airtel and Reliance.
