STD @ 50 paise/min with Virgin Mobile

They had introduced similar plan earlier but now they have redesigned it. I am talking about Virgin Mobile. The mobile operator's market was taken back by storm when they had launched their STD portfolio with just 50p/min calling rate to any state across India. But now with the heating up of this sector, operator's are bound to reduce their call charges to stay in the game. Now Virgin Mobile has taken a step ahead in reforming the STD voucher with the idea of relaunching the scheme with less than a 1p/sec scheme. They claim that they are offering STD calls at much lower price than before. One can avail of this for a one time recharge of Rs.14 and they are good to go. The recharge comes only in EVD. New customers will need to buy a SUK for Rs.99 and yeah they will in race too.So the initial 3 minutes of the STD will be charged at Rs.1.5 and then 50p/min for the next 57 minutes. Count it and you save 10p/min on every call if its on less than a 1p/sec basis. A call will be charged 60p if its up for 1 minute but on Virgin Mobile its only 50p/min. Well ti sure seems a good idea of grasping some customers. But the system has got a few disadvantages too. These are stated below:
- For the first 3 STD minutes of the day, your calls will be charged @ Rs.1.5/min. From the 4th STD minutes onwards, you will be charged 50p/min
- STD calls @ less than 1p/sec based on 50p/min are subject to a maximum of 60 mins per day
- Virgin Mobile subscribers on an existing Bak Bak plan who want to switch to this plan can do so with a recharge of Rs.14. (This recharge also offers full talktime after Tax deduction)
- New Bak Bak subscribers can switch to an existing Bak Bak profile through a recharge of Rs.13 (This recharge also offers full talktime after tax deduction).
Its Yak Yak Yak Time on Virgin Mobile

Its Yak Yak Yak Time for all Virgin Mobile customers as they have launched a new vPower recharge for all customers across India. With this new recharge a customer can benefit of making local calls at 30p/min after the initial first 3 minutes of the day. The recharge comes in for Rs. 16 and is valid for 180 days or 6 months. It seems Virgin is in the verge of lower thier tariff to woo the youth.. Prior to their launch a year back, still Virgin today hasn't been so much successfull in empowering the youth market with their CDMA service. What seemed to attract a portion of the customer was their innovative Get-paid-for-Receiving-Calls (GPRC) facility. But it faded away when they reduced the tariff from 10p/min to 5p/min incoming. So the latest in offering from their rack is this new Rs.16 recharge which will enable Virgin customers to communicate the their local buddies at just 30p/min only after shelling out Re.1 for the consequtive 3 minutes which means Rs.3 in a day and then the rest calls can be made at 30p/min for the rest of the day and in addition to that the validity of this mini power packed recharge is valid for as long as 180 days. This seems a cool move to give freedom to customers to chat unlimited. But to every pro there's always a con associated with it. The most effective con is that customers will not be able to enjoy the GPRC facility at all. It will restrict everyone from getting the benefit of getting 5p/min credited to their account. The details are given here with:
IT’S YAK YAK YAK TIME
| This is Gonna Cost You | 16 |
| What Do you Get | Get 30p/min on all local calls after 1st 3 min of the day at Re1 /min* |
| How Long is it Valid for? |
180 Days* In case of multiple vPower recharges discounted rates applicable on the latest recharge would be effective.
** No Discounted/Free SMS would be allowed on festive days of New Year's Eve (31st December), New Year Day (1st January), Diwali, Holi, Friendship's Day. Terms and Conditions • Calls to Local VMI would be charged @ 10p/min only till first 700 VMI minutes or 30days from date of recharge (whichever is earlier)
• Charging on other local/STD/ISD calls or SMS do not get affected by this recharge.
• These changes are applicable only to customers activated on 499 and 150 from sep1,’09
• Other details of the plan-200 v2v min free for the day after first 3 min @Re1/min ,STD= Rs 1.5 flat, Local SMS= Rs 1 and STD SMS = Rs 1.5 flat
• 30p/min on all local calls after 1st 3 min of the day at Re1 /min is available only for 180 days from date of activation, post which local tariff reverts to 50p/min for the day after 1st 3 min at Re 1/min.
• Customers who do this recharge will lose the GPRC benefit altogether.

Few days back I was going through the VMI website and got stuck at a piece of cake that they have launched but haven't publisised so much. Let me introduce to you the Virgin Mobile Phonebook Backup application. I will be highlighting some of the features and fundas this application is able to deliver. The idea has been cropped in mind keeping the view that Virgin customers mostly constitute the youth generation who are always in the go, chances of misplacing their phone or damaging ones phone is high chance among the youth. What will happen when one fine day you find out your phone going blank and you loose all your contacts? To be on the safe side this tiny application will help you store all the necessary contacts of your closest buddies on a secured server which can be accessed later to retrieve the data. With the Phone Backup application you can backup your contacts from your phone and then access them on this URL https://iphonebackup.remoba.com/vmi/ibu. Now comes the cons, this appliaction will cost Rs.49 which is a one time download fee and can be used for a year withouut any hassle of renewing the product. When you download the Phonebook Application, you can use your mobile number as your User ID and save a PIN number which will be your unique password. The service is available on the web too. You can set it on daily, weekly or manual update. When you switch phones or lose your phone, all you have to do is access your contacts on the URL with the same mobile number & PIN.
How to get this macho lifesaver application?
You can download the Phonebook Backup application in 3 super simple steps:
- Go to the Games & Application section from the Phone Main menu
- Click on Mobile Shop and go to Catalogue Manager
- Click on the last link (the Phonebook Backup Application) and download it!
