Uninor launches Dynamic Pricing for Prepaid Subscribers

Within weeks of launching its service in India, Uninor has introduced a radically new concept of ‘dynamic pricing’ that is likely to set a new trend in the pricing of mobile services in India. Branded as ‘24X7 Badalta Discount Plan (DP)’,it will offer customers changing discounts on their calls based on traffic on the network. The discounts will change with location and with time, with each cellphone tower broadcasting a different discount. At the same location, the discount will change on an hourly basis.By putting customers in control of costs, with 24X7 changing discount rates, this could very well change the tariff structure in Indian telecom. Under the ‘24X7 Badalta Discount Plan (DP)’, customers will be able to avail a discount on their calls that ranges from 5% to as much as 60%, depending on their location and time at which they call.
This discount will be applicable on a standard base call rate of 50 paisa per minute for any local call, Uninor-to-Uninor or Uninor-to-any other operator. This means a 1-minute call could cost as low as 20 paisa and never more than 50 paisa. The service is being launched simultaneously in the three telecom circles of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
The plan can be activated by a customer by simply walking up to the nearest a retail shop. The plan will be subsequently extended to other circles where Uninor services are present.
The discount available at any given time will be visible at all times on the screens of handsets that display cell broadcast. The discount visible on the screen at the time a customer calls will be the applicable discount for the call. When the call ends, a flash will appear on the phone screen indicating the actual discounted cost of the call.

Uninor the Youngest GSM Mobile service operator today announced the launch of Mobile Internet Services on GPRS for its prepaid subscribers across the all the telecom circles named UP East,UP West, Bihar , Jharkhand, Orissa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh where its GSM Mobile Service is commercially available today. Uninor also announced Promotional trial offer for Unlimited FREE Internet browsing which will be available till May 6. Subsequently, GPRS/Data services will be available through a base plan with tariff of 10p per 10kb.
GPRS Tariff Plans-:
Uninor Prepaid customers will also be able to access the service through two GPRS Plans dubbed as myconnect 9 priced at Rs. 9 which will valid for 3 days and allows free browsing upto 60 MB and myconnect 90 priced at Rs. 90 that's valid for 30 days with 3GB of free browsing.
For both GPRS plans, usage beyond free data will be charged at 10p per 10kb. Both plans also allow customers free access to popular social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In.
GPRS Settings-:
Keeping it simple, getting data started will be a single step process. Customers will not need to search and download GPRS settings.All that is done automatically for most handsets, by Uninor’s Automatic Device Setting Server, as soon as a Uninor SIM is inserted into the phone.The system detects the device make and model and automatically sends data settings to the phone. Accept and start surfing.

Speaking on the Launch of GPRS services, Mr.Olav Sande, Executive Vice-President, Western Hub-Uninor said “We had stated earlier that a lot can be done using the opportunities already available on 2G platforms to offer a good quality data experience and services. We make that start today,”

Uninor emerges strong in its first 100 days in Andhra Pradesh

Uninor which was the largest Greenfield launch operation in telecom history marks its 100 days in Andhra Pradesh by establishing its geographical base in 23 districts, 423 towns and 1328 villages. Uninor boasts of 6 Company owned outlets, 14 Franchisee owned outlets and 100 Modern Trade outlets – all operating successfully across Andhra Pradesh. Uninor in Andhra Pradesh holds strength of 187 employees and 640 associates.On launch day, the network covered a national footprint of close to 600 million with the simultaneous launch in the circles of Andhra Pradesh, UP (West), UP (East), Bihar , Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala in December, 2009.

Uninor (Karnataka) launches new tariff scheme

Uninor today announced the launch of a new scheme offering calls between local Uninor subscribers in Karnataka for just 29 paisa per minute. In case of an existent subscriber of the Callmore plan he would need to discontinue the Rental of Rs.2 per day by dialing *222*9*1# before activating the STV 49 or STV 199.
In case of an existent subscriber of the Talklonger plan, the customer can activate the Call more STV 49 or STV 199 for 30 days after which he will revert to his base plan.

Uninor has announced yet new recharge offer for its prepaid mobile subscribers UP East. This Uninor call offer is valid for STV recharges of Rs.32 and Rs. 199 denominations. The subscribers will get a talktime of 1000 minutes on a recharge of Rs.32 and 10,000 minutes on a recharge of Rs.199. The recharge amount is inclusive of service tax and processing fee.The Uninor subscriber has to choose the denomination and relative call value will be credited to his/her account immediately. Uninor customers in Tamil Nadu can avail this ‘Local On Net offer’ on an electronic recharge of Rs 32 that provides 1000 minutes free talk time for local Uninor to Uninor calls. This offer is valid for a period of 30 days from the day of activation.
