Vodafone offers discounted roaming rates to subscribers travelling for hajj pilgrimage

Vodafone is the first telecom operator to provide their customers with a product exclusively for Hajj pilgrims. Customers can enjoy reduced call rates on all incoming and outgoing calls while roaming in Saudi Arabia. This offer is valid up to November 28th 2010 i.e. the duration of the pilgrimage.

Through this, Vodafone customers can enjoy 32% reduction in incoming rates and 29% reduction in outgoing rates to India or any other international destination. To activate this service, prepaid customers can buy a bonus card of Rs. 499/- and receive discounts on all voice calls and postpaid customers can pay a rent of Rs. 499/- and enjoy reduced rates on all voice calls.

MTNL showers customers with talk-time offers on the occasion of Diwali

mtnl-logoAs a festival offer MTNL Mumbai has announced an increase in talk time on its First Time Recharge Coupon (FTRC) of Rs 91 for SIM10. Under this scheme customers’ buying SIM 10 along with FTRC of Rs 91 will now get talk time of Rs 91 instead of Rs 41 which was provided earlier.

This SIM 10 comes with lifetime validity. All outgoing calls to MTNL Mumbai and Delhi Network are charged just at 1paise /2sec. All local calls to other networks and STD calls are charged @ 1paise / 1sec. Data download charges are Re. 1/ MB.
This recharge coupon of Rs 91 can be used as first time recharge coupon only with SIM 10. Subsequently the customer can recharge with any of the available top up or recharge coupons.

Reliance Communications launches SMS based Mobile Conferencing

This group-oriented service will be made available to all Reliance Mobile GSM and CDMA subscribers using any handset through the ‘SMS based Mobile Conferencing’ solution from US based Kodiak Networks, a global leader of group communications’ solutions. The Group Talk service will enable Reliance Mobile customers to establish a conference call amongst a group of 9 contacts with a single SMS.

Group Talk was launched early last year as a Mobile Conferencing Service to offer mobile conferencing service on handsets with Java, Brew, Symbian operating systems and Blackberry handsets. Now, the enhanced service launched today offers mobile–centric conferencing facility from any handset. The new service helps all Reliance customers to stay connected in a more convenient way with families, friends and communities

To create a group, user needs to type “C <GRP NAME> <Phone Number1> <Phone Number2> …….” with phone numbers (both mobile and landline) starting with prefix 91 (for mobile) & STD Code (for landline) and send this as a SMS to 51234323.  Five such groups can be created & max.9 numbers can be added per group.

To initiate a conference call, the user just needs to send a SMS in the format CHAT to 51234323 and all the group members will be notified via a SMS giving the Conference Dial-in number.

Postpaid subscribers can dial the unique number given at the time of group creation, which in turn will dial all the group members within the group to establish an instant call conference. The Group Talk service subscription is offered at a price of Rs. 40/- per month. Subscribers can also download the Group Talk application from RWorld and install on their handset if the handset supports this application.

Last 5 days left for Vodafone subscribers to submit documents for verification

vodafone-logo-redVodafone subscribers , who have not yet submitted their address and ID proof for verification, are required to do the needful latest by October 31, 2010 failing which their connections will be cancelled as directed by the Department of Telecommunications.

Existing Vodafone subscribers, who have been contacted via SMS or call for re-submission of their documents, are expected to visit any Vodafone Store or Mini Store across Karnataka and furnish their photograph and/or self-attested copy of identity/address proof document.

Over the past two months Vodafone has organised several document collection melas in various towns and cities across Karnataka to facilitate easy submission of documents by subscribers for reverfication. Commenting on these initiatives, Vodafone Karnataka CEO, K Sankara Narayanan added, “We are delighted with the responses received from the large number of subscribers who have come forward to submit their documents. In order to avoid any inconvenience or interruption in services in the coming days, and in the overall interest of national security, we would urge those subscribers who are yet to submit their documents to do so latest by October 31, 2010 as required by the DoT.”

Vodafone has already organised document collection melas in Mysore, Mangalore, Hassan, Hubli, Dharwad, Shimoga, Tumkur, Raichur , Bidar, Bijapur, Belgaum, Gulbarga  and Bhatkal which was well attended by subscribers.

BSNL Mobile launches "Home Unlimited Plan", unlimited free calls to one landline number

It is introduced as a promotional offer for 90 days with effect from 07.10.2010. As per this plan unlimited free call facility will be provided to one BSNL home landline from BSNL Mobile connection.


Other call charges as 1 paise per second to BSNL All India Network and 1.2 paise per second to All India Private Operators. 

The Home Unlimited plan will be provided only for new mobile connection. The customer may be asked to produce last paid bill of the Landline number also to verify the genuineness of the customer. In case of Assam, J&K and North East LSAs validity of plan is subject to the

guidelines/instructions issued by Govt. of India/Regulatory Authority from time to time.

Airtel to launch 3G before the end of 2010

airtel-3g-2Bharti Airtel today announced that it will launch its  3G services before the end of 2010. Tata DOCOMO and Vodafone already announced there 3G launch dates, Tata DOCOMO will launch 3G around Diwali and Vodafone will launch it in first quarter of 2011.

Airtel has 3G spectrum in 13 telecom circles across India.  These 13 telecom circles also constitute 68% of Airtel’s revenue market share. This includes key metros such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad, which account for 21% of all data traffic in the country and are expected to have the strongest uptake of 3G services.

Airtel is also in advanced discussions with other quality operators to offer 3G services to its customers across the country. This will not only ensure seamless roaming, but also offer 3G broadband to its entire customer base in India.
