Uninor introduces pay less, talk more offer for Karnataka consumers

Telecom provider Uninor has come up with an offer to woo its Karnataka consumers. The plans titled STV 55 and STV 66 have been presented as a new year offering for consumers.


Both the plans will come with 90 days validity.
Now all Local calls at 1 paise/2 seconds with RC 21 and FRC 22 on Reliance GSM Mumbai

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has heralded good news for its consumers as it has come out with two new sets of regulations – one for consumer protection and another for the redressal of consumer complaints.

Firstly, the consumer protection regulations. The consumer protection regulations are intended towards making the consumer fully informed about any telecom product or service he/she is using. This regulation includes certain steps to ensure that telecom companies don't cheat the average consumer.

Vodafone India has warned its users in India about the missed calls some of its subscribers are receiving from international numbers, especially users from Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported on this issue.

When a person receives a missed call from such international number they tend to call back and find out about it, but in turn they are being charged a hefty sum for these calls unknowingly and the prank number may be earning from these calls.

BSNL (Kerala) announces promotional reduction in CDMA STVs

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a reduction in the cost of STVs for CDMA users in its Kerala telecom circle.


Now users opting for the Per minute plan (all @ 49) will have to pay just Rs. 30 instead of the previous Rs. 49. For the Per second plan BSNL will charge users only Rs. 40 as against the earlier rate of Rs. 59. If users wish opt for the Local Azadi pack, then they can opt for the plan at just Rs. 151 instead of Rs 210. The STD Azadi Pack will now be available for just Rs. 300 and not Rs 410. Also the price of the Annual Local Azadi Pack has been reduced to Rs. 1500 from the previous Rs 2000.
This promotional offer is valid until 31-03-2012.
MTNL slashes rates of Speed on Demand by 50%

Back in September, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) had announced the availability of Speed on Demand service for its Triband users in Mumbai at a price. But now after the 3 month promotional period has ended, MTNL has announced a price cut in its rates by 50%.
The plans started from Rs.10/hour for 1 Mbps speed and Rs.30/hour for 2 Mbps speed during day time and ranged up to Rs.30/hour for 1 Mbps and Rs.55/hour for 2Mbps speed.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced the launch of a new unlimited broadband plan 'Freedom 995' for its users in Delhi telecom circle.
Users opting for this unlimited broadband plan at a monthly rental of Rs. 995 will get 20 GB of data usage at a speed of 2 Mbps after which the speed will be lowered to 512 Kbps. There will be no download limit in this plan but users will have to manage with the 512 Kbps speed if they cross the assigned 20 GB data limit.

In a decision that could benefit millions of mobile users in India, the Madras High Court has issued notices to about 10 mobile operators and the TRAI chairperson as it accepted a petition filed by Mr. Arunachalam, who asked the court to stop mobile operators from charging users for every SMS they send on special occasions and festivals.

The Madras High Court has now issued notices to the Zonal/Regional Managers of 10 companies which include Airtel, Aircel Ltd, Vodafone, Reliance, MTS, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Unitech, Tata DoCoMo, and Videocon in this regard and sought explanation from the companies.
