Bharti Airtel has today announced that the company has brought its huge Hello Tunes collection online thus making it one of the largest collection of Hello Tunes in India. Now Airtel mobile customers can conveniently enjoy discovering, browsing, sampling, buying and even gifting of Hello Tunes and Value Added Services (VAS) online.


Now Airtel users who wish to find a particular song that they would love to set as their Hello Tunes don’t have to struggle much to find a particular song by calling out a number and still not find it. Because now users can visit http://airtel.in/hellotunes and search for the song they want from the huge collection available online, select it and just set it. Simple!
MTNL Mumbai launches FTRC 84, brings group calling at just 2p/min

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has launched a new First Time Recharge Coupon (FTRC) for its prospective GSM users in Mumbai. Priced at Rs 84 this particular FTRC 84 will allow users to make calls for as less as 2p/min within a group of upto 9 MTNL GSM subscribers.


Apart from this, other calls to local number will be charged at 20p/min and 50p/min will be charged for STD calls. Prospective users can buy a new 3G SIM for just Rs. 10 and then go ahead with this FTRC 84. With this FTRC users will also get free talktime of Rs 54 and initial validity of 365 days. Additional free benefits with this plan include 250 SMS (Local and National), 100 MB data and 25 minutes on-net video calling per month for the initial 3 months.
Supreme Court cancels 122 telecom licenses issued after 2008 under Raja's regime

The 2G scam, which some call as the one of the Biggest scam in history of Indepent India, has been scrutinised for the past 3 years and today the Supreme Court ordered the cancelled 122 licenses for mobile networks issued during A Raja's tenure as Telecom Minister. Major telecom players affected with this order are Unitech Wireless, Tata, Aircel and Idea .


The Supreme Court has also asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to make fresh recommendations for how 2G licenses should be allotted.
MTNL introduces Trial Broadband plan in Delhi

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam limited (MTNL) has announced the launch of a promotional broadband plan namely the Trial Broadband 1099 plan for prospective new users in its Delhi Telecom Circle.

Under this plan MTNL will allow new users to try its broadband service for 60 days at a speed of 2 Mbps upto 5 GB per month and 512 Kbps afterwards with unlimited data usage.

Telecom Companies allowed to share 2G spectrum on certain conditions

The Telecom Commission has made a decision to allow mobile phone companies to share spectrum, but has limited this facility to 2G airwaves alone as the 2G spectrum is largely used for offering voice services across the country.


For this the Telecom Commission has introduced some rules to govern spectrum sharing. First, only those operators that have airwaves in a particular region can share it. Suppose Uninor or Tata Teleservices which does not have 2G spectrums in Delhi, cannot share airwaves with any other operator that has radio frequencies here and launch GSM-based cellular services.

Airtel now allows you to personalise your Hello Tunes with its all new ‘Name Tunes’ service which allows Airtel mobile customers to personalize their Hello Tune with their own name. With this, Airtel mobile customers can stamp their caller tune with their own identity by following a simple process that allows them to search and set their name as their Hello Tune.


To avail the “Your Name Your Tune” service, Airtel mobile customers need SMS NT <space> <First Name> to 543215 (TollFree). After that the customers need to choose from search results of names that are presented and set the same as Hello Tune.

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has announced the availability of three new packs for its subscribers in Delhi. MTNL has introduced a Weekly SMS pack for prospective users. Priced at Rs. 15, this weekly SMS pack will allow MTNL users to send out 400 Local and 200 national SMS all over India for 7 days.
With the Weekly STD pack, users will be allowed to make a total of about 150 minutes of free STD calls at just Rs. 55 for one week. The free minutes (local or STD) are valid for calls made from home circle only and not on roaming. MTNL has not levied any limit on the number of recharges; a customer can do at any given time. There is no cumulative usage validity on doing multiple recharges. Only the minutes given on recharge will be cumulated if the customer does multiple recharges on the same day.
