Uninor launches STV 48 and STV 78 with per second pulse

Uninor has today announced the introduction of two new STVs for its users in Bihar and Jharkhand. The two STVs, STV 48 and STV 78 will go on to offer Uninor users to talk more and make longer calls as they offer per second pulse.


With the STV 48 Uninor users will get free 48000 seconds of calls for Local Uninor to Uninor for 30 days.
Airtel buys 49% stake in Qualcomm for 4G services

We earlier heard that Airtel might be interested in buying a certain amount of stake in Qualcomm for 4G services. Well Airtel has today confirmed that it has acquired 49% stake in Qualcomm's 4G business in India for $165 million which is about Rs.900 crore.

Airtel already has 4 circles under its belt including Punjab, Maharashtra, Kolkata and Karnataka and with this acquisition, Airtel will now have hands on Qualcomm’s licenses in India including Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana and Kerala circles which Qualcomm had won through an auction in June, 2010 and paid Rs 4,912.54 crore.

BSNL introduces new Prepaid EVDO STVs with limited data

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the introduction of new Limited Data STVs for its prepaid EVDO users in Tamil Nadu telecom circle.
BSNL has introduced 3 new prepaid plans priced at Rs. 170, Rs. 285 and Rs. 565 all giving BSNL EVDO users a validity of 30 days
Vodafone announces New 3G Plans and tariff reduction

It seems 3G Price War has just begun. We are hearing that Vodafone has also reduced its 3G tariff. Airtel and Idea have already announced reduction in their 3G tariffs along with introduction of a few new 3G Plans.

Vodafone has announced 3 new 3G Plans, reduced the tariff of 2 of its plans and will now provide more data in one of its existing 3G data plans.

A few days back Airtel announced 3G Tariff reduction, today we are hearing stories that Vodafone did the same, we tried contacting Vodafone and still waiting for them to respond. Meanwhile, Idea also announced the reduction in its 3G tariff and announced new “Try and Buy” sachet packs.
Idea Prepaid & Postpaid customers will now pay 3p/10 KB of data, a reduction of 70% from the earlier levels of 10p/10KB. Not many people use this base tariff though as subscribers prefer to use 3G Packs which are much cheaper than the base tariff.
4133 complaints received against telecom operators by TRAI in FY 2011-12

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Communications and IT Milind Deora said that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had received about 4,133 service related complaints against telecom operators in India for the year 2011-2012.
Topping the list of complaints, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance go on to take the top 3 spots with 1,165, 654 and 647 complaints respectively.
Now activate BSNL 3G data pack via SMS in Kerala

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new service for its users in Kerala telecom circle, wherein now users will be able to activate any 3G data pack of their choice by just sending in an SMS from their Mobile Number.
All 3G Data Vouchers of denominations between Rs. 10 to Rs. 3000 can be opted in by BSNL 3G users by just sending an SMS.

Tata Docomo announces ‘Roam Free’ Plan for GSM and CDMA Pre-paid customers

Tata Docomo has today announced the launch of Roam Free plan for its existing and new GSM and CDMA pre-paid customers. With this, customers recharging with Rs 46 get free incoming roaming anywhere across the country on Tata Docomo’s network.

All calls in home zone will be charged at 1.2paise/second. The validity period for this plan will be 60 days.
TRAI: Tariff can't be increased until 6 months from the date of enrolment

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the Consumers’ Handbook on Telecommunications which goes on to inform the consumer about his rights when opting in for a new connection and also lays down some rules that the service provider has to offer.
One such rule mentioned in the Handbook is that the service provider is not allowed to increase the tariff of the consumer for a minimum period of six months from the date of enrolment.
