Tata Indicom in association with Corporation Bank, and PayMate has launched ‘Green Money Transfer’- a unique person-to-person mobile money transfer service. The transfer of funds via mobile will be facilitated by PayMate’s technology, Corporation Bank’s banking system and Tata’s PCO and True Value Shop (TVS) network. Tata Indicom is the first Indian private telecom operator to enter into a partnership of this nature wherein a PCO/TVS is used as the initiation point for person-to-person money transfer.Customers can register for this service at a Green TATA PCO, TVS or with Corporation Bank. Upon registration, they will receive an mPIN to enable them to authorise the transaction.
- A sender in Mumbai goes to a Green Tata PCO or TVS and places a request of transferring Rs. 5000 to his parents in Pune
- The sender hands over the cash to the Green Tata PCO or TVS. The PCO or TVS triggers an IVR call to the sender
- The sender enters his mPIN to authorize the transaction and gets a Transaction code on his mobile to be conveyed to the recipient.
- The recipient goes to the nearest registered Tata PCO or TVS and shares the transaction code.
- The PCO or TVS triggers an IVR call to the receiver who enters his/her mPIN to verify the transaction
- Once the verification is done the cash is handed over to recipient.

Tata Indicom has come up with new Plan to counter Simply Reliance Plan. Reliance had recently launched Simply Reliance Plan which allows its users to make all calls at 50p/min. This plan sounds very lucrative for those who are using TATA Indicom connection and do not want to switch to other mobile operator.Details of Celebration Plan
- All Local and STD calls to any mobile or landline will be charged at 60p/min (7AM to 10PM)
- All call to any mobile or landline will be charged at 30p/min (10PM to 7AM)
- All Local and National SMSs are charged at 60 paise.
- International SMSs will be charged at Rs. 5
- While in roaming all incoming calls and outgoing local calls will cost you Re. 1/min and Rs. 1.5/min to make outgoing calls (other than to local numbers)
New Customers can get this plan at Rs. 99. Existing customers can enjoy these rates by recharging with Rs. 148 voucher.
Please note that all the users of this plan will not be able to recharge with any special tariff or SMS vouchers.
We Say : The plan sounds good for those who do not want to switch to other operators. However this plan is not enough aggresive to counter Simply Reliance Plan. The worst plan about this plan is that recharges with any special tariff vouchers or SMS vouchers will not be applicable to this.
TRAI has rated TATA Teleservices least congested for 6th time in a row

Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) has emerged as the only pan India operator with “ONE POI CONGESTION” in TRAI Quarterly Report on Network Congestion for the quarter ending June 2009. Tata Teleservices recorded 1 POI congestion as against 12 POI’s of BSNL, 13 POI’s of Vodafone, 7 POI’s of Bharti, 8 POI of Reliance Communications and 17 POI of Idea. With consistent performance, TTSL has earlier also been rated as the least congested network in TRAI’s last five consecutive quarterly reports.
Commenting on the company’s continued network dominance, Mr. A G Rao, President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Tata Teleservices Limited said: “This is the sixth time that TTSL has been rated as the best amongst all pan-India telecom operators by TRAI. More so, we are proud of the fact that this time its “One” POI congestion and we are still working hard to reduce the gap.
We have been conducting rigorous quality checks to sustain this competitive edge and provide exemplary services since last six consecutive quarters. It is our primary objective to ensure that our subscribers experience the unique advantages of our network—crystal-clear voice quality and minimal call drops.”
The growth of mobile network is taking place at a very rapid pace and about millions of subscribers are added every month. In order to ensure seamless interconnection, TRAI has been monitoring the level of congestion at the Point of Interconnection (POI) between various service providers on a monthly basis. This parameter signifies the ease with which a customer of one network is able to communicate with a customer of another network. This parameter also reflects as to how effective is the interconnection between two networks. The benchmark notified by TRAI in the QoS Regulations for this parameter is <0.5% [This means out of 200 calls between two operators only one call should face congestion problem.]
