Tata Docomo Maharashtra applies Fair Usage Policy of 500 minutes for all Local & STD Tata calls at 1 paise/6 seconds on RC 24

FUP500_copy
Back in February, we had shared the news of Tata Docomo offering all Local & STD On-net calls at 1 paise/6 seconds on a special recharge of Rs. 24 valid for 30 days without any fair usage policy. We have some bad news for those who use this pack extensively to call their dear ones across the country as Tata Docomo has applied a FUP of 500 minutes for calls made to Tata numbers on RC 24. Beyond 500 minutes, all Tata calls will be charged at 1 paise/second.

Following are the details of the offer:
  • Special recharge of Rs. 24
  • All Local & STD calls to Tata network (GSM & CDMA excluding fixed line Walky) charged at 1 paise/6 seconds for first 500 minutes.
  • Tariff of 1 paise/second applicable after the successful usage of 500 minutes.
  • Tariff validity of 30 days.
  • Local and STD calls made to other network charged at 1 paise/second

Tata Docomo recently made some changes in their internet packs as they reduced the validity of Rs. 48 pack to 21 days and started offering 4 GB data instead of 6 GB in Rs. 95. Data price hike and now the FUP on RC 24 makes us believe that some serious price hike is lined up on other services as well in future. Lets hope they keep it simple and cheap to stay on top of the heavily crowded Telecom market.

Now night gets hotter with Tata Docomo, on-net calls at 1 paise/min in Maharashtra

nightclling_copy
Now that the tariff war between telecom companies is almost steadying up, Tata Docomo has launched a pack which offers local night calling to any Tata number(excluding fixed line cdma) for as low as 1 paise/min with a special recharge of Rs. 41 valid for 30 days. The benefits of this pack can be availed from 11 pm to 7 am. Normal tariff of 1 paise/sec will apply for all Tata calls during the day. Fair usage policy of 1000 minutes is applicable to night calls made to any Tata number beyond which the calls will be charged as per base tariff of 1 paise/sec.

Following are the details of this pack:
  • Special recharge of Rs. 41
  • Validity- 30 days
  • Local Tata calling from 11 pm to 7 am at 1 paise/min
  • Fair usage policy of 1000 minutes
  • Base calling rate applicable after first 1000 minutes.
This pack is quite good for all the night lovers around but it doesn't compete well with the On-net packs of Uninor. Uninor is already offering 1,20,000 seconds(2000 minutes) on RC 38 and 2 paise/min local Uninor calling on RC 22 so would you still opt for the "night calling pack" of Tata Docomo when Uninor is offering such dirt cheap tariff for "whole day"?? Only benefit is the option to call any Tata number as opposed to a comparatively smaller customer base of Uninor.

Get driving directions using Tata DOCOMO's VAS - Route Finder

tata-docomo-route-finder
Getting driving direction using GPS on a smartphone is pretty easy, but what if you don’t have a smartphone. Well Tata DOCOMO has a solution for that, the company has launched its new VAS Service ‘Route Finder’ to enable its subscribers using feature phone to get driving directions. The service can also be used on smartphones (though I don’t think a smartphone user will use this service, just mentioned it for the sake of mentioning it.

According to Tata Teleservices, Route Finder has a robust database with millions of points of interest, including restaurants, places of worship, shops and hotels. It offers turn by turn directions right on your phone anywhere via SMS.

Route Finder uses triangulation is to ‘figure out’ the location and then deliver the best possible route to the destination – on SMS or on MAP.

Tata DOCOMO is offering ‘Buy One Get One Free’ Offer, which offers one free direction after the consumer request for direction for first time. So request for one direction and you will get another direction for free. Tata DOCOMO is also offering assurance to its users that they won’t be charged until their requested direction is delivered to them.

As of now this service is available in selected cities. Click here for the list of the cities where it is available.

How to use Route Finder :
Step 1: To access Route Finder, you need to send SMS to Short Code (533331) by mentioning required destination address.
Step 2: Route Finder identifies if your device is a WAP device or Non-WAP device.
  • In case phone is a Non WAP supported device:
  • You will receive directions as textual SMS
  • No charges are deducted for an invalid response
  • In case phone is a WAP supported device:
  • Receives direction as a WAP linkUpon clicking WAP link actual WAP page opens showing textual directions and route plotted on MAP
  • No charges are deducted for an invalid response

After reading all this you must be wondering what’s the price of this service. Ahem ahem, its will cost your Rs. 5 per direction, now this is costly. I will rather use my smartphone or ask anybody on the way for the driving directions. Tata DOCOMO should offer this service at a lesser and a better rate so as to enable most of its users to take advantage of this wonderful uses.

Do share what do you think about Tata DOCOMO’S Route Finder.

Tata Docomo offers all Local calls at 1 paise/2 seconds on RC 27 in Maharashtra

docomo30paise
Tata Docomo, the GSM wing of Tata Teleservices has introduced a pack which offers all local calls at 1 paise/2 seconds for 30 days with a special recharge of Rs. 27 in Maharashtra and Goa circle. Tata Docomo was offering this tariff with a monthly pack of Rs. 49 since last year but now they have lowered the rate of this pack to Rs. 27 which is quite cheap as compared to the previous pack. Interestingly, the previous pack is still in existence, so anyone refilling with RC 49 will still get the same benefit.

Tata Docomo is getting strong competition from Uninor which is offering discount ranging from 5-60% on all local calls with a minimal recharge of Rs. 26 valid for 3 months. However, a subsrciber wont mind spending 27 Rs/month which comes to less than a rupee/day for a flat tariff of 1 paise/2 seconds (30 paise/minute) valid for a month.

So, next time you visit your nearest retailer, do a special recharge of Rs. 27 instead of falling for the RC 49 trap!
