Reliance Mobile in alliance with Aaj Tak to offer video news alerts

Reliance Mobile has tied-up with Aaj Tak to launch MMS News Subscription Service to its subscribers. According to this tie-up, a Reliance user will be able to access news related to National, International, Business, Sports, Entertainment happenings on their handset. The news alerts will be in video format sent to the subscriber as MMS clips. Reliance Mobile will send these MMS alerts twice everyday.

Reliance Mobile is offering the Aaj Tak MMS News Alert service on a 30-day subscription module. Customers wishing to avail the service can subscribe to it for Rs 30/month. Reliance Mobile is offering this service to both its prepaid as well as post-paid customers across both CDMA and GSM networks.

Commenting on the new service, Mr Krishna Durba, Head - VAS, Reliance Communications said, "We have seen large demand for news on the move. Subscribers want to be alerted on the breaking news. This service will ensure excellent news coverage with multimedia pictures & video clips. "

In case of Post-paid Users, the subscription charges will be added to mobile user's monthly bills. For Prepaid Users, the subscription charges will be deducted immediately.

Reliance customers can subscribe to this service by sending a SMS "MSub N" to 52424.

The banner advertising which reliance is using for this campaign on various news site such as Yahoo, Indiatimes, IBNLive & NDTV and is on the similar line of strategy deployed by Nokia's email campaign.

The mobile operator would be targeting a reach of 45-55 per cent of the Total online audience within a month period by serving some 250 million ad impressions across websites and Ad networks.

The reach is huge and could do wonders for newly launched Reliance GSM looking at the Ad penetration and interactivity levels.


Reliance Mobile offers BlackBerry Service for Rs. 299 per month

Reliance Mobile has  introduced the ‘Reliance E-Lite’ plan for BlackBerry smartphone users. With the ‘Reliance E-Lite’ plan, users can have unlimited access to email and instant messaging (IM) on their BlackBerry smartphones for just Rs. 299 per month.

The Reliance E-Lite service plan offers unlimited access to the industry's leading email and instant messaging features, allowing Reliance customers to access up to 10 supported POP3/IMAP email accounts (including most popular ISP email accounts such as Yahoo! Reliance Mobile introduces Live Streaming of World cup matches on mobile

Reliance Communications has announced the launch of a new service which would enable live streaming of ICC World T20 matches.

Reliance Mobile has introduced a new ‘Unlimited Live Match’ Pack for Rs. 99 through R World. The service is available on select handsets at a monthly subscription of Rs. 99 for unlimited viewing or at Rs. 15 per 5 minutes. Customers can now enjoy unlimited seamless viewing of ICC World T 20 matches live on their Reliance Mobile and experience the aura of watching it on television. Customers can also enjoy the highlights of the matches once they are over.

Reliance GSM introduced new Tariff Voucher for Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh

Reliance GSM has introduced a new tariff plan for its GSM prepaid customers of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh Circle. This new tarriff voucher costs Rs. 16 with a validity of 60 days It gives a benefit of calling at just 50 paise/minute anywhere in India.

When customer recharge with this new tariff voucher Rs. 1.50 will be deducted per day from his balance till 60 days i.e. till validity of special tariff voucher. The customers will be charged Re. 1 for local call and Rs. 1.50 for STD calls for the first minute of the call and from the second minute onwards charges of 50paise/minute will  be applicable.

We Say : At first instance this plan sounds pretty cool but when you analyze the overall cost one has to incur then one realizes the plan is not that cheap. The minimum fixed charges (for 60 days) which one has to pay for availing these rates are Rs. 16 + Rs. 90 = Rs. 106. And Apart from this one has to pay Rs. 1 for local call and Rs. 1.5 for STD calls for the first minute of call to take the benefits of 50 paise calling.

Hrithik Roshan is the new Brand Ambassador of RELIANCE

Reliance Communications is planning to launch new advertising campaign for its nation-wide GSM services and is believed to be on the verge of signing Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan as its brand ambassador.
The Bollywood hunk, the brand new face of this leading Indian network, urges fans and subscribers of the service provider to never leave anything unsaid or undone... “Just pick up the phone, don’t wait... go for it!” is Hrithik’s powerful and heartfelt message in a new commercial.
According to sources, Reliance Communications is planning a Rs 150-crore media campaign for its GSM services featuring its new brand ambassador, Hrithik Roshan.
Sources said the company is in the final stages of signing an endorsement deal with Hrithik, who would be the official face for the company’s mobile, data and DTH businesses.
The three-year deal with Hrithik is believed to be worth over Rs five crore annually and excludes the fees payable for appearances and events, sources said adding the overall deal could touch Rs 10 crore annually. The new campaign is expected to be on air in the first week of June.This is Reliance Communications' first advertising campaign for its GSM service, which was launched on commercial basis in January 2009 and has since then added over 13 million subscribers. The company is targeting 100 million subscriber base (GSM and CDMA) by the end of this fiscal.

The celebrity brand endorsement business in India is pegged at about Rs 1,000 crore, including star appearances and events. Last year, cricketer M S Dhoni,Shah Rukh and Dipika Padukone were among the top celebrities endorsing maximum products.

Reliance launches 10 paisa calling offer for Maharashtra Circle

Reliance Mobile has announced a special tariff bonanza by introducing On-net Intra-circle calling @ 10 paisa for Reliance Hello’s new prepaid subscribers of 32 and 93 series (CDMA-Mobile) for Maharashtra circle. This offer would be applicable to customers who are doing a first e-recharge of Rs. 26. This is a limited period offer valid up to only 31st May 2009.

The introduction of On-net Intra-circle calling @ 10 paisa from Reliance Communications brings unparallel convenience with one of the lowest calling rates for its subscribers in Maharashtra.All other calls would be charged according to base tariff during the offer. After the offer period, the customers will move back to the base tariff. The FRC benefit would be credited to the customers within 48 hours from the date of recharge.

Reliance GSM Launches Rs 32 SMS Pack In Karnataka

Reliance GSM has launched a new SMS pack of Rs. 32 for Karnataka circle. This pack will enable Reliance GSM customers in Karnataka to send 100 SMSes everyday for 30 days within the state. It is a limited period SMS pack and is available through e-recharge in Reliance Mobile Stores, Reliance retail outlets and Reliance World outlets across Karnataka.

We Say : Its very cheap SMS scheme as it provides 100 local SMSes daily for 30 days from the date of e-recharge. It means Reliance GSM customers who opt for this scheme will get 3000 SMSes for just Rs. 32.

Reliance has clearly indicated that it is targeting a large section of youth subscribers in Karnataka circle by announcing the launch of this SMS pack.

RCom told to clarify on GSM service launch in J&K

Department of Telecom (DoT) has questioned Reliance Communications (RCom) as to why the network has launched a GSM network in Jammu and Kashmir without clearance from the security services. The DoT has instructed the company to demonstrate that its network can be monitored by the security services.
The Indian government routinely changes the rules about networks offering mobile coverage along the border with Pakistan, and services are restricted in the contested Kashmir region. The state owned operator, BSNL was recently ordered to shut-down its mobile network along the India-Nepal border due to security concerns
According to
RCom official company is also offering CDMA-based services in J&K, therefore, our network has been designed keeping in mind the requirement of the security agencies. According to the licence, there is no need for us to get separate clearance from the security agencies for our GSM network. "We had started the services after intimating the DoT. We are fully compliant with the rules and procedures RCom official said."
