Nokia announces 200, 201, 300 and 303, new S40 ‘Asha’ series at Nokia World

Nokia has announced a new series in its S40 range of handsets at the Nokia World event that kicked off today in London. The new series is called ‘Asha’, yes the Hindi word which means hope. The new range has four handsets namely the 200, 201, 300, and 303.Nokia Asha 200

The Nokia Asha 200 features dual SIM with Easy Swap, shortcuts for social networking, email, IM and others including RenRen, Orkut and Flickr, 2.4 inch QVGA display with 262k colours, support for up to 32 GB memory cards, 2-megapixel camera, full QWERTY keypad, stereo FM radio with FM Recording, high performing loudspeakers, 52 hours of music playback.
The handset is priced at €60, before any local taxes or operator subsidies.
Nokia Asha 201
Nokia Asha 201 is the single SIM version of the 201 and is aimed at young music lovers. The features of the 201 are same as the 200.The handset features a 2.4 inch QVGA display with 262k colours, full QWERTY keypad, shortcuts to social networking, email, Nokia Messaging, Whatsapp and Facebook chat, high performing loudspeakers, FM radio with recording, 2-megapixel camera with 4X digital zoom.
The Asha 201 should cost somewhat same as the 200.
Nokia Asha 300

The Nokia Asha 300 features a touchscreen and a keypad. It has a 1GHz processor, 2.4-inch resistive touch display with 262k colors, 3G, a 5-megapixel camera with video, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth, memory card capacity of up to 32GB, preloaded with Angry Birds Lite, offers fast access to messaging, email and instant messaging. And upgraded Nokia Browser gives you swipe access to apps, music or games from the Nokia Store. The 300 will be available in various colour options including graphite, night shade, gold, white silver, pink and red.
The 300 will be priced around €85, depending on the area of availablility.
Nokia Asha 303
The Nokia Asha 303 has a metallic finish and sports a 2.6-inch capacitive touch screen, with QWERTY keypad and is powered by a 1GHz processor. The handset features 3G, WiFi, a 3.2 megapixel camera, stereo FM radio and internet radio preinstalled with Facebook Chat, Whatsapp and even Nokia Maps for Series 40 for some regions. The handset will be available in red, graphite, silver white, aqua, green and purple colour options.The Asha 303 will be priced around €115, depending on region.

Lava launches its first Android handset-S12

Lava Mobiles has launched the Lava S12, its first Android smartphone in the Indian market. The company has established its R&D center based out of Bengaluru (Karnataka) as well as in China. The handset is loaded with various features, preloaded apps and a rich UI.
The S12 is 13mm thin and has a matte leather finish with rounded top & bottom edges. The UI has 16 customizable home screens, which can be modified by the user as per his requirements and interests. The handset features a 3.2-inch display with a 480 x 320 pixel resolution, a 600MHz processor by Qualcomm, 32GB expandable memory, runs on Android Froyo (2.2), 3G (up to7.2Mbps), 5MP fixed focus camera, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 1300mAh battery.

Loop Mobile introduces ‘Magic SMS’ offer this festive season

Loop Mobile has introduced a special ‘Magic SMS’ service for its prepaid and postpaid subscribers in Mumbai through which users can now add MMS/ picture message and add an extra fun element to a normal text message.
Through this service, the Magic SMS user can send an SMS by prefixing 55115 before the recipient’s mobile number. The receiver accordingly receives an MMS/picture relating to the SMS, along with the original text message. If the message receiver is an MMS subscriber he/she will receive MMS content.
To subscribe to the Magic SMS service via SMS, the subscriber needs to message START to 55115. The subscription packs available are Rs.30/month, Rs.15/15days, Rs.10/10days, Rs.5/5days, Re.1/1day which are auto renewable.
Samsung Focus S and Focus Flash WP handsets showed off

Here we have some first live shots of the previously announced Samsung Focus S and the Focus Flash running Windows Phone Mango.


We don’t have the confirmed specs of the device but from the looks of the device the Focus S seems to have a 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus screen with an 8MP camera, while the Focus Flash has a 3.7" Super AMOLED screen and a 5MP camera at the back.



The handsets should launch on the AT&T network in the US anytime soon and probably rest of the world after that.
