Intex expanded its Dual SIM mobile phone portfolio with the launch of IN 4420. IN 4420 support GSM + GSM. IN 4420 has Currency Checker that lets you differentiate between a fake and real Indian Currency note. It identifies and displays name of the circle/ area while making/receiving a call (the facility is network-specific). The phone also has a Dual LED torch light, Wireless FM radio, audio and video player, pre-set audio equalizers, Bluetooth, PC synchronization/Modem/Webcam/PC Suite, GPRS & WAP, mobile tracker, auto call recorder, currency converter and an Indian calendar with all the details of festivals. Uninor today announced the launch of a new scheme offering calls between local Uninor subscribers in Karnataka for just 29 paisa per minute. Uninor customers in Karnataka can now "get a lot more" on an electronic recharge of Rs 99 that provides Rs 50 talk-time with local calling at 29 paisa, STD calling is charged at 49 paisa per minute and no call setup or daily rental or any additional charges.
Vodafone customers can now purchase movie tickets through their mobiles via Vodafone’s M-Shop. Customers can access M-shop IVR by dialing 53333 (toll free) or by sending SMS MSHOP to 53333 (no charge). This service is brought by Vodafone and BookMyShow, one of India’s largest online entertainment ticketing & Information services. As an introductory offer there will be no convenience fee till February 28, 2010. (Once this offer is over a convinience charge of Rs. 5 per ticket to Rs. 25 per ticket will be applicable)
Sony Ericsson has unveiled Xperia X10 mini and X10 mini pro, compact versions of Xperia X10. Both the phones run on Android platform. The two sister mobile phones incorporate the signature application Sony Ericsson Timescape which brings all communication together in one place so users can see at a glance text messages, missed calls, and Facebook and Twitter updates, without having to open lots of different applications. The interactive music player also uses the “infinite button” to pull together all music content from the music store and YouTube.
Vodafone has announced the release of its most affordable ultra low cost handsets - Vodafone 150 and Vodafone 250. These are the cheapest handsets till date. The handset will soon be available in India and 6 markets in Africa – The Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, Qatar, South Africa and Tanzania.
Tata Teleservices Limited emerged as the Number One telecom operator in the country for the sixth consecutive month in terms of new subscriber additions, adding more than 2.98 million subscribers in January 2010.
Virgin GSM,the youth brand of Tata Teleservices launched their services in Maharashtra and Goa circle today.Virgin GSM is already present in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka ,Kerala, Orissa and Tamil Nadu. Virgin is offering its subscriber in Maharashtra a tariff of 20p/min for STD and local calls to any Virgin Mobile number without any pack.Virgin Mobile customers calling any other network will be charged at 40p/min for local and 50p/min for STD calls again without any packs but with a daily decrement of Rs 1.5/day.The tariff is valid for 365 days.There is also an option to opt for "per second" plan which provides all local and std calls at 1 paise/sec with an erecharge of Rs 12(Talktime Rs 10.88/-)valid for 365 days.The local and national sms's are charged at 50 paise and Rs 1 respectively.All roaming calls are charged at 60 paise/min.Virgin is providing their services on Tata Docomo's network.
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has announced the launch of New Life Time Valid 3G Prepaid Connections with inbuilt Pay Per Second Tariff at Rs.101 for new mobile subscriber in Mumbai telecom circle. MTNL new Life Time Valid 3G Prepaid Connections comes at Rs.101 (Rs.10 for 3G SIM KIT +91 for FTRC) with talk time of Rs.41. The new SIM kit of will get activated only when recharged with Rs. 91 FTR coupon which comes with the SIM kit. The customer will be allowed the entire range of Extra talk time recharges, Plan Recharges and the Top up coupons subsequently.
