On the auspicious occasion of Diwali IDEA Cellular has unveiled a bouquet of special tariffs for its subscribers in Gujarat. IDEA has launched “Flat 50 Ps Plan” for its postpaid subscribers with call rates of just 50 paise per minute for all calls and SMS made to anywhere in the country. IDEA Cellular has announced its entry in the country’s northern most state of Jammu & Kashmir. IDEA’s 2.75G EDGE enabled GSM network will now cover the entire length of the country from Jammu in the North to Chennai in the South. IDEA’s mobile network will be available in Jammu City, Bari Brahmana, Bishnah, Katra, Udhampur, Jammu-Katra Highway at the start of operations, and will progressively grow to cover the major towns in the Kashmir valley as well, before the end of this calendar year. Other major towns in J&K like Srinagar, Lakhanpur, Badgam, Anantnag, Mattan, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Ganderbal, Patan and Sumbal will be covered soon.
Reliance Webstore and Coolpad Communications have commenced the market roll-out of Coolpad smartphones in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with the launch of Coolpad 2938 dual-mode smartphone. The Coolpad 2938 dual-mode touchscreen smartphone supports both CDMA and GSM connections, with two neatly labelled SIM card slots. The GSM SIM is tri-band, while for CDMA it supports 800 MHz. There are separate calling keys for GSM and CDMA. It allows selection of the preferred network (GSM or CDMA) and the option to make both networks to function simultaneously.
Now it will be even easier for the people of Chennai to buy recharge vouchers for their MTS mobile phone. Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd., the company that owns the MTS brand, has tied-up with India Post to make available recharge vouchers across all post offices in Chennai. Initially, these vouchers will be available at 50 post offices, and the scheme will later be expanded to cover all post offices in the city.
