Kid-proof tablet by Karuma called PlayBase

A new low budget tablet has been announced by Karuma which is called the PlayBase and is said to be kid/child friendly. The tablet has a 7-inch (800x600) touchscreen display, runs on Android Gingerbread, a 1.2 GHz single-core processor, 1GB of DDR 3 RAM, 8GB of storage which upgradable with a microSD card, a front facing camera, Wi-Fi, stereo speakers and a battery life of 5 hours, 60 hours on standby.

Ashley Sayed, the company's MD said "The idea of kid-proofing PlayBase came from my personal experience with my 2-year-old nephew who broke my tablet’s screen after dropping it on the ground. PlayCovers will offer extra grip for little hands and butter fingers and keep it safe from drops, knocks and bumps."
The tablet comes with a PlayCover with a shock-absorbent silicone cover to prevent damage from drops and also protect against rain, spills, dirt, scratches and screen marks. The PlayCover also doubles up as a stand for the tab.
The PlayBase will be available for pre-orders from 15 November direct from Karuma in the UK, with a promise of pre-Christmas delivery and will cost £169.

Motorola to announce the Motokey Social [EX 225] Facebook phone

If you remember we heard of a rumour sometime back that Motorola will be launching a full QWERTY keyboard equipped Facebook handset. The mystery has now been solved as Motorola has put up the Motokey Social handset on their website with all its features and a “Coming Soon” tag.
Just like the HTC ChaCha and the Salsa, the Motokey Social [EX 225] will also have a dedicated Facebook key that will let you access your account, share your pictures and links, and keep up with your friends with just a push.
Other features of the handset include a 2.4 inch touchscreen, a 3MP camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack, FM radio, a 910 mAh battery and off course Facebook integration. We’ll keep you updated if there is a buzz about the launch.

HTC Sensation XE coming soon to India at Rs. 32,400

HTC had announced the Sensation XE with Beats Audio in September which was an upgrade to the original Sensation. Well the handset is headed to India as it is listed at Flipkart at an MRP of Rs. 32,400. So this means that HTC will be announcing the smartphone anytime soon in this month.
The Sensation XE has a 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p videos and a VGA front facing camera and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The smartphone will be bundled with a set of special Beats by Dr. Dre in-ear headphones, which have track control buttons and call answer buttons.

MAXX Mobiles launch MAXX Zippy, a Dual-SIM touchscreen handset

MAXX Mobiles has launched a new handset called the MAXX Zippy (MT105) which features dual-SIM capability and also boasts a touchscreen.
The handset features a 2.4-inch TFT touchscreen, a digital camera with LED flash, a 1000 mAh battery, a torchlight, 3.5mm audio jack, wireless FM radio, support for MP3, AAC & WAV, MP4, 3GPP, AVI formats, comes with a 4GB memory card, Bluetooth and USB mass storage. The handset will be available in black, blue, red and orange colour options.
The handset is priced at Rs. 2,599 available all over India.
Frenny Bawa resigns as MD of RIM, India

Frenny Bawa has been the MD of Research in Motion in India since the past three years and news confirms that she is ready to resign. Frenny has been the Vice-President of Global Business Development at Research in Motion. She also oversaw RIM’s continuing expansion into International markets and had specific responsibility for driving growth in India and the Middle East. Prior to joining RIM in 2005, she held several leadership positions in Information Technology firms.
Urpo Karjalainen, Senior Vice President-Greater China, India & ANZ, will now oversee the business operations for India. BlackBerry has been doing well in India and hopefully the change will not affect the stronghold that company has maintained in the country.

4 crore mobile connections in Delhi with a population of 1.68 crore

In the statistics released by the Delhi Government in its Statistical Handbook 2011, more than 1 crore new mobile connections were taken in the year 2011-2011. When the total population of Delhi is just 1.68 crore, the number of mobile connections now stands just below the 4 crore mark.
This means that on an average each person living in Delhi owns 2.5 mobile connections on his/her name. This is an increase from 2,82,99,590 users in 2009-10 to 3,88,21,604 users in 2010-11 and is also the highest in the country. The total number of mobile users in India stands at 85 crores.
There is also a small increase in the total number of landline connections from 27,10,835 in 2010 to 28,38,818 in 2011.
