TCL Mobile has announced the launch of Alcatel mobile in India.The company is foraying into the Indian market after establishing its presence around the globe. With 8-9 million handsets being sold every month in the country, and 12 million connections added per month, it felt that the time was right to enter the Indian market.

Richard Cao, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Business Center, TCL Communication Technology Holdings Ltd., said, “The MobileStore will be the national distributor to retail the Alcatel Mobile Handset across India. It will play a key role in showcasing and distributing our products through their stores, which will give us a reach in over 2,000 cities.”

Reliance launches 10 paisa calling offer for Maharashtra Circle

Reliance Mobile has announced a special tariff bonanza by introducing On-net Intra-circle calling @ 10 paisa for Reliance Hello’s new prepaid subscribers of 32 and 93 series (CDMA-Mobile) for Maharashtra circle. This offer would be applicable to customers who are doing a first e-recharge of Rs. 26. This is a limited period offer valid up to only 31st May 2009.

Reliance GSM Launches Rs 32 SMS Pack In Karnataka

Reliance GSM has launched a new SMS pack of Rs. 32 for Karnataka circle. This pack will enable Reliance GSM customers in Karnataka to send 100 SMSes everyday for 30 days within the state. It is a limited period SMS pack and is available through e-recharge in Reliance Mobile Stores, Reliance retail outlets and Reliance World outlets across Karnataka.

We Say : Its very cheap SMS scheme as it provides 100 local SMSes daily for 30 days from the date of e-recharge. It means Reliance GSM customers who opt for this scheme will get 3000 SMSes for just Rs. 32.

Reliance has clearly indicated that it is targeting a large section of youth subscribers in Karnataka circle by announcing the launch of this SMS pack.

IDEA Cellular connecting fans with MI Cricketers records two million calls

IDEA Cellular has received an overwhelming response with over two million calls and messages from the time it launched its innovative campaign based on the theme of “connecting fans with their cricket superheroes” following a tie up with Mumbai Indians in the second season of the Indian Premier League.

Ever since IDEA Cellular launched its communication campaign last week, the leading telecom operator received two million calls and messages with the master blaster Mumbai Indians Skipper Sachin Tendulkar topping the list with nearly 50 per cent of the calls, followed by spinner Harbhajan Singh and pace bowler Zaheer Khan.

After the government's disapproval over mobile handsets without IMEI, the GSM mobile operators lobby Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), today said it will set up 1,600 centres across the country for installing genuine identity number on devices without this number. It comes as an hope for around 30 million mobile phones in the country which are unbranded Chinese mobiles that do not have IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers.

The COAI with Mobile Standard Alliance of India has developed a software for the Implantation of genuine International Mobile Equipment Identity numbers (IMEI) (issued by GSMA) on handsets without IMEI or all zero IMEI, COAI said in a statement. Add a comment

MTNL Mumbai today launched BlackBerry services under its post-paid arm Dolphin Mobile service. MTNL’s BlackBerry comes with a price range of Rs.14000 upto Rs34000, three BlackBerry handsets has been introduced which include Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Curve 8310 and Blackberry 8700.

MTNL Mumbai has launched various tariff plans starting from Rs.249 for individual and corporate customers with lowest entry cost. RCom told to clarify on GSM service launch in J&K

Department of Telecom (DoT) has questioned Reliance Communications (RCom) as to why the network has launched a GSM network in Jammu and Kashmir without clearance from the security services. The DoT has instructed the company to demonstrate that its network can be monitored by the security services.
The Indian government routinely changes the rules about networks offering mobile coverage along the border with Pakistan, and services are restricted in the contested Kashmir region. The state owned operator, BSNL was recently ordered to shut-down its mobile network along the India-Nepal border due to security concerns
According to
RCom official company is also offering CDMA-based services in J&K, therefore, our network has been designed keeping in mind the requirement of the security agencies. According to the licence, there is no need for us to get separate clearance from the security agencies for our GSM network. "We had started the services after intimating the DoT. We are fully compliant with the rules and procedures RCom official said."
