S Tel today announced the launch of its GSM services in the North Eastern states - Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya. Starting with towns including Agartala, Dimapur, Udaipur, Kumarghat, Ranir Bazar, Chumukedima, Jowai ,Nongpoh ,S Tel is planning to expand its services so as to reach across 87 towns & over 26% of the population in the states by year end. S Tel is already present in one of the North East states Assam, where it commeneced its service in the month of July. |

Nokia has announced that it will be acquirig Motally. Motally Inc, which currently employes eight people, is a privately held US based company which offers mobile analytics service and provices in-application tracking and reporting, and is designed to enable developers and publishers to optimize the development of their mobile applications in-application tracking and reporting, and is designed to enable developers and publishers to optimize the development of their mobile applications.
Sony Ericsson has unveiled its six new phones, including smartphones, GreenHeart and affordable walkman phones. The Xperia X8, GreenHeart Cedar and Aspen, and Walkman phones – Yendo, Spiro and Zylo, the portfolio will soon be available India. Prices of these phone in India are not yet announced.

Wimax India 2010 held today at New Delhi. Department of Telecom Secretary and Telecom Commission chairman P. J. Thomas inaugurating the conference referred to the Government programme of connecting all the six hundred thousand villages in a bid to reach out to rural people. Over two and a half lakh panchayats would have broad band connectivity and wireless broadband access would be the most effective and efficient means of achieving this. In his speech Mr. Thomas said, “The mobile revolution is now rolling & WiMax will accelerate it. With prices of both equipment and devices falling day by day the access would become affordable to the rural people. However, he cautioned vendors and operators seeking to set up shop in India to be aware that doing business in India is different from that in any other country. Even the public sector BSNL has learnt it the hard way.”
