Indian Govt. gets access to RIM's BBM service, can now spy on you

The war of words between the Government of India and Research In Motion (RIM) over the encryption of messages on RIM’s BlackBerry Messenger service finally seems to have come to an end, as RIM is almost done with all the process to grant the Indian Government access to its servers based in Mumbai.
Now Indian Government has got all the requires access to RIM’s BBM service and can now spy over the BBM messages of any BlackBerry user freely, but yes there is a permission needed to access them from the Centre.
Youm is Samsung’s flexible AMOLED display

We know Samsung has been working on a flexible display for mobile devices and tablets. Well, today we know that it will be called ‘Youm’. The name is confirmed by Samsung as they have filed a trademark along with WAMOLED, FAMOLED, PAMOLED, TAMOLED and we might just see this display go in for a 2012 release.


The flexible AMOLED features a TFT Film, Organic Layer Encap (Film) and a Polariser. Samsung Mobile display use a special plastic material to reach the high resolution and the bending property. The flexible displays have already gone into mass production, so we just might see them in a device or two this year itself, but definitely we can expect a number of devices next year.
HTC officially reveals the One series in India

HTC had shown off its amazing One series at the MWC 2012 and left fans jumping with joy. Well today the company has officially unveiled its new HTC One series of smartphones India. The smartphones will be coming with a bundled offer for Airtel mobile customers across the country.

Nokia bringing new swiping gestures to S40 feature phones

Just moments ago we posted about a leaked full-touch S40 handset coming from Nokia, and now according to a leaked manual of what we think is the same device, we believe that Nokia is bringing some new swipe gestures to its S40 feature phone platform.

The platform will have three homescreens now, one for apps, one for shortcuts and one for a most used app, like the dialler. Now this reminds us of the Nokia N9, which has a similar three homescreen UI.

A new Nokia device namely the Nokia 306 (RMN 768) which seems to be a full touchscreen running on Nokia’s Series40 OS has leaked over NokiaPort. The device appears in a user manual and might be the first full touchscreen S40 running device.
Until now we have only seem touch and type devices running on the S40 platform but with the Nokia 306, it seems that Nokia really wants to change the way people know the S40 platform.
No more Beats Audio headphones for future HTC devices

Yes, you heard it right. HTC has said that it won’t be giving away Beats Audio headphones with their future products.


However the company also said that they are not going to stop integrating the brand and functionality into its smartphones, which means that the software technology will still be present in their products.

A not-so-good-news is coming in for all the BlackBerry lovers. It seems that Research-In-Motion (RIM), the makers of BlackBerry may sell off the company if it is not able to sustain for some more time. We all know that RIM has indeed been going through a hard rough patch since last year, when the company’s stock fell by about 77% and the market share dropped to just about 8%.
Many executives at the top posts have quit the company and recently two executives, including Senior Vice President Alan Brenner have called it quits form the Canadian giant’s office. This news comes in via Bloomberg who received a written statement from one of the spokespersons of RIM, informing them about the departure of the executives.
Intel processor equipped Lenovo K800 scores decent benchmark results

According to sources, Lenovo will be launching the first ever Intel Medfield processor equipped smartphone, the K800 in about two months of time in China.


Till then we have some benchmark results of the smartphone which aren’t that mind-blowing, but yes the numbers are pretty close to the Samsung Galaxy Note. The K800 will have a 1.6GHz Atom Z2460 processor and will be running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, however for the benchmark testing, the prototype was running on Android 2.3.7. The graphics performance wasn’t at its highest, but it managed a decent overall score.
