MTS partners with Opera Software to provide Opera Mini browser on their portal

Opera Software and MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), have signed an agreement that would enable MTS customers to download Opera Mini on a range of mobile phone models from handset manufacturers such as Samsung, ZTE, Haier, Huawei, Micromax and Hisense.

MTS customers can now directly download Opera Mini browser by browsing through MY MTS ZONE on their compatible handsets. This is a good move considering Opera is widely used in mobile phones all over the world, as the page loads faster on Opera Mini because of its compression technology which also helps reducing data consumption.

Earlier this year, MTS Russia announced a co-branded version of the Opera Mini browser for its subscribers. Subscribers receive access to a customized Opera Mini start page when they downloaded the browser on their mobile phones. The start page with default bookmarks gives quick and easy access to music, videos and games, as well as the opportunity to purchase content directly from the browser.

MTS Launches Janmat 2010, VAS for Bihar & Jharkhand

MTS has announced the launch of Janmat 2010, an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and SMS based service which will provide MTS customers with the latest information relating to Bihar State Elections.

MTS claims that the service will provide factual and unbiased information specific to an array of verticals. This will include news on nominations, updates about political parties, backgrounds of key contesting candidates of Bihar and their previous election performances. It will also offer MTS customers an in-depth view of constituency-wise results along with the predictions for forthcoming elections. In addition, customers will also be able to access light hearted jokes on all the election action.

Janmat 2010 can be availed by dialing “5303030” at a call charge of Rs. 3/min.

We feel that this innnovative VAS by MTS may not find much takers as the price which MTS is charging to use Janmat 2010 sounds bit costly. Anyting between Re 1 - Rs. 1.5 would have been more acceptable. What do you think do share your views.

MTS India adds new offers in its bouquet

MTS India, the youngest cdma provider of India has launched few offers for subscribers all over India. MTS has always been aggresive when it comes to providing path breaking offers but the only thing keeping this company from attracting huge customer base is the lack of quality handsets. Anyway, MTS India  has launched new SMS Pack for subscribers in all circles, unlimited On-net pack for subscribers in Delhi circle and full talktime pack for subscribers in Bihar circle. 

• Subscribers in Delhi can now avail unlimited calling to local MTS mobile for as low as Rs. 99 valid for 30 days.
• Subscribers in Bihar can now avail full talktime on Rs. 222 and Rs. 333 recharge which comes with zero validity.
• MTS has reduced the unlimited sms pack rate by a huge amount. Initially unlimited sms pack was priced at Rs. 104 but now the same pack comes for Rs. 64 which is quite competitive as other gsm providers are offering same pack at almost same price. This pack comes with a validity of 30 days and gives 500 Local and National sms everyday.

MTS launches smartphones - Ivory, Buzz & Alive

MTS has launched a range of  internet enabled smart phones -  Ivory, Buzz & Alive. With these smartphone MTS is targeting new generation mobile subscribers, especially the college going and young professionals.

These smartphone provide direct access to as much as 15 social networking sites including facebook, twitter, windows live messenger, yahoo and Google search to its subscribers. These devices offer internet connectivity with speeds up to 3.1 Mbps in ideal conditions. MTS so far has been offering similar speeds on the data cards and with the launch of these smart phones, MTS now has extend the high speed mobile broadband connectivity to the smart phones also.  MTS will provide 20 GB free for first two months for every subscriber of these devices, as an inaugural offer.

All MTS Smart Phones are available with bundled offers. MTS will be offering all its smart phone consumers, limited and unlimited tariff  plans ranging from Rs.192 to Rs.1099. MTS-Buzz offers free usage for both voice and data services worth Rs.1795 with life time validity, whereas Alive and Ivory also offer the free usage of voice and data worth Rs.2295 with life time validity. Standard tariff of 1p/second is applicable to all smart phones for all local & STD calls and Rs 2/MB base tariff for data usage.  MTS-Ivory will also offer mobile TV experience with free subscription for two months as per offered tariff plans.

MTS-Ivory, the sleek life style phone has broadband internet access with speeds up to 3.1Mbps. The Ivory can access MTS TV featuring up to 60 channels, and has a 3.2” WQVGA full touch screen for enhanced mobile TV experience.  Ivory also features Microsoft exchange push mail access to Facebook,Twitter, Orkut, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, GTlak,Picasa, Cricinfo and many more.   MTS today announced an “Onam” festival offer for all its new subscribers in Kerala. The “Onam” special ‘Double Talktime Offer’ will enable all the new MTS subscribers to avail “Double Talk time” on all standard top-ups for the next one year.

MTS offers a color handset, SIM with lifetime validity and a double talk time to the customers at a Rs 699. All local calls would be charged at the rate of 1paisa/second and STD calls would be charged at 3paisa/2 seconds respectively.

MTS flags off ‘MTS on Wheels’ in West Bengal

MTS today flagged off ‘MTS on Wheels’- a initiative aimed at taking telephony services to the door of customers in West Bengal. This is a month long activity started today from Kolkata and will complete its journey at Burdwan by August 2010. During the period, the bus will travel through various cities and towns of West and North Bengal and will address all customer needs related to voice and data services.

‘MTS on wheels’ is an air conditioned bus comprising of all the facilities available to customers at MTS branded retail outlets across the country. There are different zones viz. Instant activation zone, Instant recharge zone, Display zone, VAS zone, Data product zone, Customer Service zone and Play & Win zone. MTS reached 5 million subscribers' milestone

MTS has crossed the milestone of 5 million subscribers in India. To mark the milestone achievement, MTS has offered “Unlimited MBlazer” to the new and existing customers of its mobile broadband service, MBlaze. MTS has notched up a milestone subscriber base, increasing from 1 million to 5 million subscribers in 361 days.
