Loop Mobile introduces Karaoke Messaging Service

loop mobile karaoke service
Loop Mobile has  launched ‘Karaoke messaging’ service. Confused???  What is Karaoke messaging? This service allows subscribers to sing a song along with the right music accompaniment and the exact lyrics, listen to their recording and then dedicate it to their loved ones. You can use this service by dialing 54999. Loop Mobile is the first mobile operator to start such a service. You will be charged Rs. 2/min for recording the song however the song dedication to any local mobile number is free. That means a subscriber will be charged only recording the song.

The service comes as an interactive voice response (IVR) based portal which hosts over 500 tunes of Bollywood music ranging from Retro, to Romantic songs to Ghazals. Beginning with a ‘Call on 54999’, to selecting your favorite song’s music accompaniment, and dedicating the recorded song, the transformation from an ordinary subscriber to a honed singer is a very smooth process. A re-recording feature is available as well. Since the song dedication reaches the person as a call the surprise quotient is retained.

Mumbai-based GSM telecom service provider Loop Telecom will launch its mobile services in the Tamil Nadu and Orissa circles by next week.“To comply with the norms laid down by the government, we will launch with 10 per cent coverage in Tamil Nadu and Orissa,” said a senior executive of Loop Telecom.
Company will roll out in three other circles in South India within 10-15 days of our launch in the first two circles.Loop telecom is not doing a large-scale commercial launch at this point in time. This is to meet regulatory requirements, according to the executive.

Loop Telecom, a subsidiary of Loop Mobile (formerly BPL Mobile Comm), is one of theeight new players given a mobile service licence. Last year, the company got the licence to start GSM operations in 21 telecom circles in the country. It has been allocated spectrum in 20 circles.

The licence says operators are required to cover at least 10 per cent of each district headquarters in a circle in the first year.

Loop recently contracted with Chinese network equipment vendor ZTE. With next week’s launch, the company will become the first new GSM operator to launch its services, in an already crowded market.

Besides the presence of incumbents like Airtel, Vodafone and Idea, the recent entry of CDMA major Reliance has brought a new wave of declining rates in the sector. Aircel also made its foray into the mainstream GSM space with the launch of operations in Delhi and Mumbai.

BPL mobile to morph into Loop Mobile

BPL Mobile, the country's oldest mobile telecom service provider, has changed its name to ‘Loop Mobile', following the expiry of its brand usage agreement with TPG Nambiar-owned BPL Group. The company, which is facing an ownership battle between Ruias of Essar Group and the UK-based Vodafone, does not expect "any issues" to arise from the name change "Loop is an extension of an ongoing campaign, ‘Get in the Loop', and it will be easy for our subscriber to identify with this new brand name. The new name signifies a vibrant company and appeals to the youth of the country," BPL Mobile Director and CEO Sanjeev Chachondia told here today. The new logo of ‘Loop Mobile' has been designed keeping in mind youthful vitality, excitement and freshness that the company stands for, he added. The company is planning a multi-hued campaign - green, purple, pink and blue - for the new brand, as against the conventional mode of a company trying to identify itself with a single hue.

Chachondia said the change in brand would not give rise to any issues, as there is no change in ownership nor in shareholding pattern.

The Essar group-owned company's agreement with the Bangalore-based BPL Group for the use of the brand was being renewed on a yearly basis. For this year, the contract would expire by end of this month. BPL Mobile was paying a fixed fee to BPL Group, which could not be ascertained due to a non-disclosure norm.

BPL Mobile was founded by Nambiar's son-in-law Rajeev Chandrasekhar and was later sold to the Ruias of Essar. In July 2005, the Essar Group had acquired all circles and operations of BPL Mobile for Rs 4,400 crore, and had transferred them (except Mumbai to Hutchison International).
