LG going Green! to utilize Eco-Magnesium in all mobile devices by 2012

Remember Sony Ericsson's Green Heart Initiative and Nokia's Planet Ke Rakhwale campaign, now LG is also joining the league of Mobile manufacturers who are concerned for the environment. LG Electronics recently that announced it will replace all conventional magnesium inside its mobile phones with Eco-Magnesium, a new type of clean magnesium alloy, by 2012. Due to this greenhouse gas emission will reduce by a factor of approximately 24,000 during the die casting process. Replacing conventional magnesium with Eco-Magnesium in mobile phones will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by four kilograms for every handset LG produces. LG claimed that it will not affect quality of final product.Eco-Magnesium was developed by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) with funding from the government of Korea. During production, Eco-Magnesium creates practically no sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), which the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) cites as one of the most potent greenhouse gas ever encountered.
We hope other mobile manufacturers follow LG by using Eco-magnesium and reduce Greenhouse Gas emission.
LG to launch Android phone with dual-core Tegra 2 and 1080p video in early 2011

We have heard about the 1.2GHz dual core processors coming out in Q1 next year, we have also heard about the Tegra-2 GPU running phones coming out next year. LG had promised a phone with tegra-2 GPU with dual core processor, a new leak from LG’s desk shows that such a smart phone is around the corner.
I would like to tell you before reading further that this is just a rumour and this phone has not been announced officially yet. The smart phone goes by the code name of ‘STAR’ which may be changed during the release time or official launch. The LG star is rumored to have the dual-core Cortex A9 CPU (CPU frequencty is unknown but A9 usually is 1GHz) coupled with the Tegra-2 GPU which can encode and decode HD videos quite easily. The LG star has an 8 mega pixel camera and full HD recording with 1080p. The LG star will be running android OS and you can also see Google written on the back of the phone, which pumps the heart of every android geek. The OS will have minimum customization so that the upgradation can be a lot more faster and easier.
The LG star also has a front facing camera, MicroSD card slot, MicroUSB port and 1500mAh battery. The Tegra-2 GPU offers double the performance of the older 1st generation GPUs,but it is shipped as ultra-low powered. How the processor and the GPU affects the battery is also of great importance.
Well the next year will be the battle of the Dual Cores, are you ready for it? Who will gain,and who will loose, we will also be seeing the 1.2GHz and 1.5GHz processors. The eventful year awaits.

It seems Official images of LG E900 aka Optimus 7 are leaked. A German website BestBoyz.de broke this news. Specifications of Optimus 7 are not yet available, however from the leaked images one can clearly make out that Optimus 7 will run on Windows Mobile OS, its a touch-screen mobile and has a 5 MP Camera.

LG launches LG Optimus – GT540 in India

LG Electronics today announced launch of its new smartphone LG GT540, first phone from upcoming series of Smartphones – LG Optimus. This Android-powered smart phone runs on Android version 1.6 and can be upgraded to 2.1 version.It features a 7.62 cm TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 320 x 480. Its dimensions are 109 x 54.5 x 12.9mm and it weighs around 115 grams. Priced at Rs. 12,990 LG Optimus GT540 is , we can say, entry level Android smartphone from LG. The company is planning to launch 10 Smartphone by the end of 2010 under the LG Optimus Series.

LG revamped its Application Store

LG recently revamped its application store. The revamped LG Application Store will offer more than 3,000 applications. Approximately half of the applications will be devoted to feature phones.Along with a range of applications for Windows OS phones that are already on sale, the new LG Application Store will also extend its line-up of applications for Android-powered smartphones at the end of this year.
The updated LG Application store, as of now, is available in 23 countries including India. LG aims to increase the number of applications in the LG Application Store to 4,000 by the end of this year and plans to expand the service to 33 countries including the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain and Iran.
