BSNL launches New Unlimited 256Kbps Broadband Plan

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has announced the launch of new 256 Kbps Unlimited Broadband Plans. BSNL's 256 Kbps Unlimited Broadband Plans are already availabe in Gujarat, AP, Punjab, Haryana and Kolkata at Rs. 625 per month, however the new Broadband Plan which BSNL has announced will be applicable in all the circles except Hyderbad (for Hyderbad also a plan is available which is discussed later in the article).

The new BSNL Broadband Plan - 'BB Home UL 499' is available at a monthly charge of Rs. 499 and provides Unlimited Usage with bandwidth of 256 Kbps. 'Annual Payment Option' is available for this plan, those who want to avail Annual Payment Option need to pay Rs. 4990. This plan is applicable for all circles except Hyderabad.

For Hyderabad circle, the new plan is 'BB Home UL 399 CS2'. It is available at a monthly charge of Rs. 399 and provides Unlimited Usage with bandwidth of 256 Kbps. 'Annual Payment Option' is available for this plan, those who want to avail Annual Payment Option need to pay Rs. 3990.

BSNL has launched these new plans as a promotional offer for 90 days upto 30th November. However we expect that these plans will be carried on by BSNL even after the promotional period.

TTSL Launches Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router

Tata Teleservices Limited today announced the launch of Tata Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router. It enables multiple users and devices to share wireless Internet access and stay connected on the go. The Tata Photon Wi-Fi Router allows broadband Internet access speeds up to 3.1 Mbps (downlink) and 1.8 Mbps (uplink).

Tata Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router is supported with an in-built battery for 2.5 hours of seamless operation and sports a RJ45 Ethernet port for local area network (LAN) support. This feature allows you to plug the device into your laptop or desktop and get connected.

The Tata Photon Wi-Fi Pocket Router will be available in four cities to begin with—Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bangalore. The device is priced at Rs 6,500 in the open market, but is being made available at an introductory price of Rs 4,999.

BSNL introduces 3 new Broadband Plans

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has introduced 3 new plans for its Broadband Subscribers. 2 of the 3 new plans are Unlimited Combo Plans under Home Category and 1 of the 3 new plan is Limited Combo Plan under Home & Business Category. These new plans are BB Home Combo ULF 1400, BB Home Combo ULF 1700 and BBG Combo 1500.

BB Home Combo ULF 1400 offers bandwidth of 4 Mbps upto 25 GB and beyond 25 GB bandwidth of 256 Kbps. BB Home Combo ULF 1700 offers 2 Mbps upto 40 GB and beyond that 256 Kbps. BBG Combo 1500 offers bandwidth of upto 2 Mbps but its a limited plan with free usage of upto 25 GB.

BSNL withdraws 2 Broadband plans and Upgrades 3 Broadband plans

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd has withdrawn 2 BroadBand Plans and upgraded 3 Broadband plans.

The 2 plans which are withdrawn by BSNL are BB Home Combo ULF 1100 and BBG Combo 1999. The one's who are already using these plans can continue to use the same plan but these 2 plans are now no longer available for new customers.

The Broadband plans which BSNL upgraded are - BB Home Combo ULF 900, BB Home Combo ULF 1000 and BB Home Combo ULF 1350.

BSNL offers several freebies to Broadband users

In its endeavour to increase Broadband customers, Bharat Sanchar Nigam is offering serveral freebies to its existing as well as new Broadband customers. Here is what BSNL is offering :

1) All the customers registering their new Broadband connection upto 31.07.2010 under any limited or unlimited BSNL Broadband plan of upto 2 Mbps speed shall be provided unlimited free download at 2 Mbps for first 15 days irrespective of the speed of the plan applied for. The customers applying for Limited Plans shall not be charged for their download for first 15 days of activation of their Broadband connection and those applying for unlimited plans with download speed less than 2 Mbps shall get the benefit of increased download speed of 2 Mbps.

2) Installation charges (Rs. 250) for all the customers registering their Broadband connection upto 31.07.2010 has been waived off and installation of Broadband at the customer’s premises shall be done free of cost.

3) Security deposit for Broadband (as applicable for opted plan) and Modem security deposit (In case modem is taken on hire basis) shall be taken in three equal monthly installments starting from first bill for all the customers registering their Broadband connection upto 31.07.2010.

4) In an effort to win back the customers whose Broadband connection has been disconnected due to non-payment of disputed bills, BSNL has extended the special relief scheme “SAMADHAN” for settlement of disputed bills with respect to Broadband usage for the benefit of existing and ex-customers of Broadband service upto 31st March 2011. Under the scheme, Home as well as general User customers are provided substantial rebate to settle their disputed bills.

BSNL stops offering BB Home Combo ULF 1499 and BB Home Combo ULF 2999

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has announced that it will no longer offer its two Broadband Plans namely - BB Home Combo ULF 1499 and BB Home Combo ULF 2999.

The existing customers under these two plans may be allowed to continue to receive the GOD or GOD & VOD services free of cost for a period of one year from the date of subscription under these plans. Existing Customers may be given option to migrate to any other BB Plan (Postpaid) of their choice after a period of one year from the date of subscription under these plans or from the date of (14.07.2010) withdrawal of these two plans.

BSNL offers Free Games on Demand & Music and Video on Demand to new Broadband customers

In order to increase the number of BSNL Broadband customers BSNL has come up with scheme for all the new Broadband customers. BSNL Broadband will provide all of its new customers :
1) Games on Demand (GoD) service by Indiagames Ltd (worth Rs. 100) for 2 months.
2) Music and Video on Demand Service by Hungama (worth Rs. 149) for 1 month.

For activation/ availing the service, subscriber may contact franchisees. In addition, the franchisee will contact newly added broadband customers directly and ask them to register for the service on BSNL website.

On expiry of the free period, there will be no auto renewal of service. Customer will be contacted by the franchisees and paid service will be provided by the franchisee only after getting customer’s explicit consent in this regard. The scheme will be applicable till 05/08/2010.

MTNL (Mumbai) offers Free broadband access facility for S.S.C students

On the occasion of S.S.C results declared, MTNL (Mumbai) is offering Free broadband access facility to S.S.C students, for on-line registration of FYJC at 24 of MTNL’s Customer Service Center (CSC). Successful S.S.C students can avail free online registration facility on Broad Band connection provided through these selected customer services centers in MTNL, Mumbai.

MTNL Mumbai is also offering selected MTNL services to students at discounted rates. Students can avail 3G youth plan SIM along with FRTC – 53 for Rs 25, GPRS 14 at Rs.10, GPRS 98 at Rs.70, SMS 30 at Rs.20 and SMS 98 at Rs.65 during the promotional offer period.

The free broadband service facility will be available at the following CSC’s:
Colaba (Telephone Bhavan), Mazagaon, Byculla, Worli, Prabhadevi, Wadala, Shivaji-Park, Sion. Bandra, Khar, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Marol, Kandivali, Borivali, Chembur, Hingewala Lane, Ghatkopar, Nityanand Nagar, Mulund, Navpada,Cherai, Wagle-Estate and Vashi.

MTNL (Mumbai) offers Unlimited Broadband at Rs. 395

MTNL has announced that it will now offer Unlimited Broadband 320kbps at Rs. 395 for MTNL Mumbai Triband users. MTNL claims that This plan offers lowest monthly plan rates for Unlimited broadband access. MTNL customers also have an option of paying for 11 month and get the annual subscription. No monthly modem charges are applicable, it will be provided free of cost to the customers under this plan.

Offering Unlimited Broadband at low price is a good strategy to retain exisiting subscribers and get the new ones. However MTNL, rather any company, needs to maintain the quality of its services for long term revenue gains. Are you using MTNL Broadband? Do let us know your views about it.
