BSNL announces rationalization of SMS tariff with new SMS packs

TRAI’s 100 SMS/day directive has been implemented today leaving operators to change their plans and offers. BSNL has announced the withdrawal of a few existing SMS packs and also making changes in the rest. Also some new packs have been introduced.
The previous SMS packs of Rs. 13, 23 and 33 have been withdrawn with immediate effect and replaced by Rs. 21 and 32 SMS packs which will have a validity of 15 days and allow you to send 1000 local SMS and 100 local and 500 local/national SMS freely. While Rs. 14 SMS will allow you to send local SMS at 5p/SMS and comes with 30 days validity.
The Rs. 53 SMS pack has been retained with changes and it’ll now allow you to send 2000 local SMS and 1000 National/Local SMS.
All new packs are now available from today and can be availed by Ctopup and SMS.
BSNL re-launches NESAM Prepaid plan in Chennai

BSNL today re-launched the “NESAM” 2G prepaid plan for its subscribers in Chennai Telecom Circle. The speciality of this plan is that you get to call 5 Friends and Family numbers (Within Chennai and TamilNadu) at a reduced call rate of 10p/min on-net and 30p/min off-net. Call charges to other BSNL numbers is 1p/sec and 1.2p/sec for other networks. Calls made while roaming will be chargeable at 1.2p/sec for both incoming and outgoing.
The NESAM pack comes with the Life Time validity at Rs. 49 and Initial Free Talk-time of 50 Minutes.
The subscriber will also get 200 Local SMS/month free. Beyond that it is chargeable at 50p/SMS. If the subscriber activates all the 5 F&F numbers he will also be entitled to get 500MB of free Data usage.
This offer is also valid for MNP customers.
This promotional offer is valid for 3 months from 16-09-2011 to 14-12-2011.
BSNL doubles the Additional Data usage charges

If you are on BSNL and not using any Data Pack or exceed your data limit then get ready to pay more for it from 16th September. We have learned from our sources that BSNL will now charge 4p/10KB instead of 2p/10KB earlier. Along with BSNL Prepaid and Postpaid users, these charges will also be applicable to those who are using BSNL BlackBerry Plans.So, earlier it was call rates going up, and now Data charges. We just hope other telecom operators do not follow the same.
BSNL offers Free Call Diversion Facility in Tamil Nadu

Diverting calls is sometimes a good option but costly. Now the BSNL is trying to offer that for free. We have learned that the state run operator will offer Free incoming Call Diversion Facility to all its 2G and 3G Prepaid and Postpaid consumers in Tamil Nadu telecom circle (including Chennai, however in Chennai this facility will be available for only 2G customers) from 12-09-11 to 10-11-11 for a period of 60 days.
Free incoming call diversion facility to one BSNL Landline number within Tamil Nadu inclusive of Chennai, as per the choice of the Prepaid / Postpaid customer, involves two steps
(a) First, registering one BSNL LL number through SMS to 53733
(b) Second, activation of the facility on your mobile
You need to register one BSNL Landline number for Free Call Diversion(FCD) facility by sending SMS to 53733 as FCD <space> STDCODE BSNL Landline number (including Chennai BSNL number). Please note that any subsequent change of registration will be allowed only after two months from the date of registration. Once registration is done, go to your mobile call settings and activate call diversion in it.
On activation of the FCD facility, all the incoming Calls to the mobile number will be diverted to the registered landline number and are FREE of charge. But it may please be noted that any diverted incoming call to any other Landline/Mobile number, other than the above registered landline number is chargeable for the incoming call mobile number as applicable for a diverted call.
This facility is not applicable for the CUG customers in Prepaid and Postpaid services.

SMS gets costlier for BSNL Prepaid Subscribers

If you are a BSNL Prepaid subscriber, get ready to pay more for each SMS you send. BSNL has decided to revise 3 of its SMS Packs. Earlier with Rs. 13 SMS Pack, a subscriber needed to pay 1 paisa for each SMS, now its 5 paisa for each SMS. Those who used to recharge with Rs. 20 and Rs. 31 SMS Packs, will now get a validity of 15 days instead of 30 days. BSNL also announced a new SMS Pack which will offer 2000 Local & 1000 National SMS for a price of Rs. 52. This may vary by Rs. 3+/- in various telecom circles.
These changes will be applicable from 1st September 2011

BSNL offers special tariff voucher on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and Independence Day

BSNL is offering a special tariff voucher as a promotion for the upcoming celebrations of Rakshabandhan and Independence Day. The voucher offers free and unlimited BSNL to BSNL calls which will be applicable from the 13th of August to the 15th of August midnight. The voucher is available at a cost of Rs. 36 and will be valid for just the above mentioned three days.
The new promotional offer will be available for prepaid 2G and 3G customers under GSM and CDMA networks.
